Florida's A/C Depot

I checked them on angies list and they had a good rating and they had a special price.  I thought they were professional.  They obviously knew what they were doing.  They allowed us to watch them while they worked which was very nice.  They didn't try to push upselling on us although they offered, which was nice.  They did an excellent job.

We are submitting this on behalf of the elderly gentleman in our neighborhood who we occasionally help.  He received a flyer from Florida's A/C Depot for a $29.95 AC check up.  He contacted A/C Depot to unclog the overflow tray of his air conditioner which was dripping in the garage.  The man arrived a day later than scheduled but only after our neighbor called him again.  He provided lousy service and gave misleading information. The AC unit hangs from the ceiling in the garage, and because the elderly man cannot climb a ladder he would be unable to verify what he was being told by the repairman.  He was told that the overflow tray (about 2" deep) was full of water and that the water was getting into the unit.  I got on a ladder to verify this afterwards, and found that there was an obvious 3" gap between the top of the overflow tray and the AC unit.  There was no way the water was getting into the unit.  The repairman used the man's garden hose to connect to the tray and blew it out - all over the inside of the garage and workbench, and no offer to clean it up.  He said that to clean and replace the insides of the unit where the water seeped in would cost $1400.00.  This unit is 3 years old.  After hearing about this, I opened his unit and saw that it was dry, no apparent damage and obviously had never been wet.  I contacted the provider to discuss this on my neighbor's behalf and after several attempts he returned my call.  He was rude to me and my neighbor, unprofessional, didn't care and didn't like that I was questioning his findings, so he hung up on me.  My neighbor wanted me to write this so others would have fair warning.
