Dr Grab Bar LLC

Although this person provides a much needed item...grab bars in home,his price is totally out of line. We were caught off guard. He goes through his routine of why you need the grab bars. Fair enough. We already knew, but polite. After approx. 15 minutes, we said OK, then asked for pricing. Now mind you, we could have said no and we should have. For six Moen Grab Bars (2 each bath) his price was $520. The Moen fixtures are approx. $25/piece at Lowe's. Six times $25 = $150. His service fee is $370 for 1.5 hrs. work or approx. $180 per HOUR. Outrageous. We needed the bars, he advertised in our local HOA newsletter. Most customers are seniors and he preys on one's fears. Once there and with his examples/demonstrations of how you are going to fall and you will; his story of the family who ended up with a cripple in a wheel chair when he didn't have the bars installed in his bath only his wife's; his falling into your tub; and he is there; we gave in. DO NOT. This should have been written up long ago by someone. $180/hr. for labor? Really. Call around as we did later and found out we could have had the job done for approx. $250-$300. We fully accept our role in NOT getting a couple of bids which we normally do. We relied on our HO newsletter advertising. Again, we accept our part, but it was time someone exposed this ridiculous pricing.

Outside of the confusing invoice which implied a difference between the service I bought and what they were shipping for the amount they charged my credit card, the bars were installed satisfactorily and serve the purpose of meeting my needs quite well.  
My objection was that a professional organization listed on Angie's list immediately created confusion, aggravation and required unnecessary action on my part at the beginning of the transaction and again at the end of the transaction. What I expect is a clear understand of what I agree to purchase, a written invoice showing the details of the charges, delivery of the items and services in a prompt and professional manager and the exchange of the agreed upon funds for the transaction. All I got was delivery of the items and services in a prompt and professional manager along with a lot of extra calls and aggravation on my part. I didn't pay to have extra work and aggravation.

I contacted Dr. Grab Bar on a Wednesday requesting that grab bars be installed in our bathroom shower. He arrived Friday morning, calling first to say he would be a little late.Two beautiful grab bars were installed within an hour. The work was done efficiently and there was no mess to clean up! The workers were professional and courteous and the price was right. I would definitely recommend this company.

He's a bit expensive, but the cost includes materials as well as the installation work and knowledge/information about placement.

The work was done professionally. I was given recommendations as to where to place the grab bars in the shower and by the toilet. The work was done efficiently and with no mess. I was thoroughly satisfied with the workmanship and professionalism. He was very courteous and explained what he was going to do as the work progressed. If I need any future grab bars installed, I will call him again.

My wife and I scheduled an appointment with Mr. Alan Blum (Dr. Grab Bar) for September 20, 2012 in order to get an estimate for the purchase and installation of grab bars for our two bath tubs and one walk in shower. He was prompt and assisted our needs rather quickly. He gave us a price and offered to install the items immediately. In the absence of having time to research pricing and based upon having socially met him upon a couple of previous occasions, (I had even mentioned him to my barber who previously worked with Mr. Blum in the haircutting business) we decided to go ahead with the purchase and installation. The workmanship was excellent and efficient, and we agreed to write a testimonial for him at his request. A day later, we took time to research the products he sold us, only to find out that his pricing, by any reasonable standards, was OUTRAGEOUS! By the time he was through with us, we wound up paying for his labor at a rate of $200 an hour-an overcharge of nearly $500.When we wrote the testimonial for him, we pointed out his good qualities AND his outrageous labor charge. I happened to bump into Mr. Blum at a store just recently and expressed my outrage with respect to his gross overcharging-His only response was, "I get whatever I can." I told him that I would be contacting Angie's List, the Better Business Bureau, and exposing, by word-of-mouth, his "swindling" business practices in an effort to prevent him from "victimizing" others.

The owner arrived earlier than promised, but called first to see if it was alright. It was. He explained everything, and gave us a price we expected. The grab bars are installed perfectly, and we now have much more peace of mind. He even raised up our shower chair because he said it was too low to be safe! Who does that these days?! I give him my highest recommendation! Very pleased!
