This was contracted through Home Depot. After templating, I received a call from HD letting me know that my initial quote would be increased because I didn't want a seam. I paid an additional $814. A few days later, I got a call from DSI saying the quartz slab wasn't big enough to be seamless, so either they'd put in a seam or I had to select another slab. I am very LEARY of seams and discussed that with DSI. They reassured me they've done many seams and they all come out perfect. Even though I continued to express my concern, they convinced me that it would look great. I accepted and said, please refund my $814 now that I'm getting a seam. After 3 weeks, I still hadn't received my refund and had to go to HD for them to go after it. After install, the seam did not look perfect or great. And the chemicals used on it were very apparent. The installers said, "that'll go away in a day." It didn't. Incidentally, when they installed the countertop, they banged into my walls. All but one was I able to fix. When I finally got the service person to contact me about fixing the seam, I also mentioned they're responsible for fixing my wall. The installers returned to fix the seam, but it still doesn't look right, and nobody addressed my wall. When I received a call from HD about the refund, it was only for $751. WHY? Now I have to chase that down. So now, I have a crappy looking seam at a very conspicuous place on my counter that I'll probably have to live with forever. Nope - wouldn't recommend them ever!

Signed with Home Depot who sub contracts with Distinctive Surfaces Inc. DSI made both measurement and manufacturing errors. The sink hole is in the wrong location and counters are too narrow. DSI service manager refused to stand behind their services. He insists if it isn't falling apart, all must be fine. I took my complaint directly to HD.

It went very well! Their initial meetings regarding color selection, plans, options, and measurements were great! They offered me a lot of variety in color selection. They had some really great design ideas too to improve the look of my home. A key advantage was that they offered the counter tops, plumbing, sink, faucet all from one place! This helped to provide a comprehensive solution, which can be unique in this area. I would highly recommend them.

Our saga started in February 2015. Several snafus. We started the entire process with a young lady, who ended up leaving the company. The hand off was not too elegant and we had to cover a lot of the same ground and material with the new sales rep. Next, we were asked to bring our Banco Sink to their fabricating center so they could have a "template" for cutting out the sink area. Unfortunately, they broke the sink while in their possession. They got a new sink but this delayed the install. Secondly, the installers broke our new faucet during the demolition of the old countertop, but they tried to hide the fact by gluing broken part of the kitchen faucet. The plumber found the defect immediately and went out and replaced the faucet. When I contacted the owners, we did not even get an "I'm sorry". We have had our countertops and sink for well over two years. We have received many compliments. We just wish that the process had been smoother.

We had granite counter tops installed in the kitchen. We had to take our Blanco Granite Sink to their showroom and factory so the counter top could be properly template prior to installation. Some one in their shop fracture the granite sink. They replaced it at no additional cost. The installers broke our new kitchen faucet when they removed the Corian counter top and tried to put silicon caulk to hide the fact. It was immediately found by their subcontracted plumber. He went out and purchased a new one. There entire process too an excessive amount of time and no one seemed to care. We tried to call the owners, but nothing happened.

I cannot speak highly enough about the customer service I was provided by both Bryan, the manager and Tammy my sales person.  There was some confusion regarding the depth of my outside counter and without question they simply took that one back and allowed me to select the layout of the pattern on another slab of granite and then cut, delivered and installed the new one without missing a beat.  I couldn't be more pleased with my new granite counters and the professionalism and efficiency of the two installers.  The measurements were a bit tricky cutting into a window area and they fit it like a glove.  Looks perfect and the compliments I have gotten speak to the quality of the product and installation.  Thanks so much to Distinctive Surfaces for a job well done!

We got them through a contractor and it turned out that they were very good actually. They just recently came back out and did some work for us on what they had done. The last time they came out that was free, because it was still under warranty. I liked them because they would take our phone calls and they willingly sent somebody back out when we had a problem. They looked at our problem and because of the way the cabinets had been put in messed up the granite they called and talked to somebody, found a solution and fixed it. So, it was great. They have a wide selection. When they installed the granite they did an excellent job with it. Their price was very good.

I had granite countertops installed in 2009 and started to notice the beveled edges were really rough and when you would rub against it as in washing dishes or walking close to counter it would catch your clothing and snag it.  I called the company in May 2011 and they came out said it would be $150.00 to repair.  I was surprised because I thought this was part of my 15 year warranty but I paid it because we needed this fixed.  It began to happen again and I looked at it with a magnifiying glass and you can see tiny chards of material.  I told them this and they came out again and said it would be $500.00 this time.  I told him why would I pay you to NOT fix this problem again.  Every counter in my kitchen is like this.  They told me the 3 ft piece in front of my sink is because we had banged pans again the counter edge.  We have never banged a pan on our counter and why would we.   I had gotten out my warranty information and seen that it says if piece is not broken in half or service needs parts it will not be covered under warranty.  This is a labor only job and I'm just really frustrated that this company will not back up their product.  Even Home Depot said that it should be covered under warranty.  I would never use them again.

We visited their site in Sarasota as well as their distributor's
warehouse in Tampa in hopes of finding a good looking slab of carrara at
a great price, and thought all hope was lost until Mike stepped in and
helped us by showing how he would template a small slab with many
imperfections so that it would work perfectly for our kitchen.
We did have an issue with the undermounted sink, but the problems was
mostly resolved by some quick thinking from our installer, Jose.
Contrary to the other reviews here, I found everyone that I worked with
to be professional and courteous while working to solve problems.

Installation was not adequate. Corian is rippled in several places All caulking slumped or was not done at all. I removed slumped caulking and replaced, and added caulking as needed. An email was sent to the owner as a quality control item recommended in the paper work, with inadequate items outlined. No response was received . The best I can say is the job was completed(as incomplete as it was) timely. Since no response was received after several months from the company, I feel my comments on Angie's list will dissuade others from using this company.

We contracted through Home Depot.  Distinctive Services provided the materials and installation.  As first time buyers of granite, we did extensive research and pricing.  The problem began when the person from Distinctive came out to do the templates.  He was of no help in answering any questions regarding removal of the counter top, and we affirmed, based on suggestion of the Home Depot rep and research, that we wanted the OVERHANG for the sink.  We had also research how far out the granite could come from the island without additional supports, but received an estimate for additional supports.  I was referred to the Sales Operation Manager, and complained about the work done by the templater.  We were going to stop the job, but the manager agreed to send another person out.  This person was courteous and informative...and said we didn't need the additional supports.  We okay'd the work and when the installers came out we found the sink was templated and cut to be FLUSH, no the overhand.  Calling back to Distinctive, the manager from before was cold and arrogant, saying this was our fault.  We emphasized that on THREE occasions we stipulated OVERHANG.  She said, well, that's Home Depot's problem, THEY should have specified it.  Talking to the people at Home Depot, they emphasized that because people often make changes when the templater is on location, that is where the final specs are decided.  Later, we had this confirmed by other firms that do this work.  Home Depot gave us a cash settlement, and the actual installation was done adequately.  However, the lack of accountability and professionalism of some of the people at Distinctive was inexcusable.
