We purchased 3 Clopay garage doors from this company in 2014. After a couple years the door began to deteriorate between the folds. Our doors face each other in a motor court where there is no irrigation spray nor are we near the salt water spray of the gulf. Tap water from our hose was used to routinely spray them clean. We were told that this was happening because we were supposed to have waxed each of the folds in these 3 large doors with surfboard wax routinely as indicated somewhere in the fine print of the warranty. Had we been advised of this we would have purchased another brand. D & D will not send a representative from the company to inspect this, and they will not work to help us in anyway. Given the cost of these doors we certainly expected a product with a life expectancy of better than 3 years. I advise you to look elsewhere to buy your garage doors!

Excellent work at a reasonable price. Installed foam insulation pieces in garage doors to help keep out excessive heat from p.m. sun on the dark doors. Has worked well. Punctual, professional and high quality work.

The first visit in August they replaced the eye sensor. They charge a business service call even though it’s residential. That service charge and eye cost over 400. They left and a few hours later the gate continued to close only when it wanted to. Came out week before hurricane Irma and changed some underground wiring. A few hours later gate wouldn’t close again. Called them out after returning from evacuating and they tightened gate bolts. Again, few hours later same thing. Called them and lady said will have to charge you service charge again for coming out so much. Not my fault problem not fixed on day 1 or day 2! If it was I wouldn’t keep calling! The service guy was pleasant and professional but I suppose stumped as to problem. He opened and closed it several times before leaving so it did work right then but not later. Should not CHARGE again until original problem FIXED. Bad business.

Installation seemed to go fine until there were some glitches. Technician seemed to call the opener manufacturer to solve one problem, another had to do with the bracket. Technician seemed to solve the problems although it took him a little longer than usual (my condo neighbor had the same job done a week earlier and commented on it). So far we are pleased with the operation after two days of use. Over all we are pleased with the service and the adjustments the technician made. I asked about followup by the company and he said unless there is a problem, there is none. They hauled away the old unit and that was appreciated and he made sure he left no screws, parts, tools and wires on the floor.

Excellent. I needed a new circuit board for my garage door. The cost plus the service charge would have been $178. I then asked about replacing the whole thing with a belt drive system instead. This was only $430 and there was no service charge. The new system even came with battery back-up and Internet access so I can monitor my doors and get alerts (and open or close them remotely). Scott was the service tech and did not push any additional services. Did not even push the belt system - it was my choice. I also asked him to install new ball-bearing rollers. I was so happy with the new system that I called them back to install the same one on my other garage door the following month. When Scott returned to do that he added a keypad at no charge. He even re-programmed all my remotes including the ones in my cars. Work was done quickly, cleanly, and professionally. Nice experience after my experience with another terrible vendor who I will not name here.

Response from D and D Garage Doors
"It is always recommended to wipe out the remote codes when moving into a house by reprogramming your operator to your remotes and car to open the door. That way the previous owners will not have access to your house through your garage door."

.John Stickelmai, tech from Northport location was great.  Called to see if it was OK to arrive early and arrived when he said he would.  He was efficient and professional.  He quickly found the problem with the sticking door when opening, and fixed it.
The price of the service was very reasonable.

Exceeded my expectations.   From the time I called the main number to get a quote, Craig came out and estimated the work, performed the work the next day - all completed within 1 week.  During my original contact I had a lot of questions, so D & D sent out Craig, their most experienced tech.
Craig was excellent - little things I mentioned, like the rubber stripping on the bottom of my door, he fixed the next day, even though I forgot about it!    Very customer and quality oriented.   Also extremely patient.
Definitely would use and recommend D & D to my friends and neighbors.

The technician, TJ, arrived on schedule. I stated that the garage door is not easy to raise by hand and that once raised it will not stay up. I said that my call to D&D Garage Doors was for a second opinion.

The previous door company technician told me that they could not adjust the tension on the spring because it was 13 years old and they did not want to accept the liability. I asked for a quote for the spring's replacement. I received a quote with two options, one was for a special order since he did not have the springs on his truck and the other was for a 3 spring solution, but they would have to come back. I also stated that I would get a second opinion. The technician said that was expected.

When I called D&D Garage Doors, Steve said that he could have a technician come by the house between 1 and 3 the next day and I accepted the appointment. Steve told me that TJ would be the technician's name. TJ arrived prior to 3 and evaluated the door. He stated that the spring did need to be re-tensioned, and that there is a risk for the spring to fail. I asked him for a quote and if he had the springs. He said that he had the springs needed and that he would be happy to give me a quote. His quote was considerably less expensive, so I asked him to replace springs. TJ was very professional and efficient. The springs were replace, parts lubricated and tested was tested in both the manual and automatic modes. Total time onsite less than 1 hour.

Thanks for the Great Job,

  Jerry

Note:

My reason for calling a garage door service company was because of my neighbor's automatic garage door failed. Since his home is two years newer than mine, I thought it wise to have it evaluated.

Response from D and D Garage Doors
"If we see that an opener can last a while longer, then we don't push to have it replaced. Now you should be set for several years with a new door and opener. Just remember to keep up the maintenance on your new door and operator. Thanks for choosing us again!"
