Awful This company is a rip off. They seems sweet but the work done only benefits them. Changed my battery twice in a year . Overcharged for services and provide no warranty on parts of labor.

"Ms [Member Name Removed] neglects to mention that her 15 year old generator had been neglected for 14 years when she first called us for an emergency visit during Hurricane Irma. We got her generator running DURING the hurricane, but it subsequently required several hundred dollars in repairs to restore it to good operating condition. Recently she called complaining that her generator was not working and that her plumber had diagnosed a battery issue. I explained that the battery is covered under a 1 year warranty, but the cost of a diagnostic visit would only be covered if it were a warranty issue. Ms [Member Name Removed] did not want to risk the cost of a real diagnostic visit, so we offered free telephone support. During the telephone conversation, she became hysterical, yelling that her plumber’s diagnosis was correct and she was calling her lawyer. Our reputation speaks for itself when it comes to customer care. But when a customer whom we are trying to help threatens litigation, it is time to refer her to another generator company, which we did."

We have used three other generator companies in the past and were totally unsatisfied with the service. Now we use only Genstar and this was our third year in having them provide maintainence. James was on time, very friendly, professional, very knowledgeable and had our generator working just as efficiently and quiet within a short time.

Genstar installed a 22kw Generac Guardian Series Generator for our 2400 sq ft house. Lance the owner was very knowledgeable and always willing to answer any questions. Generac was very organized and all work was done in a timely manner. Sams gas did a good job in installing the propane tank. We chose a 500 gallon tank which will last about 10-14 days allowing ample time to refill after a storm if necessary. The Generator is able to operate our A/C and major appliances and comes on automatically during a power failure. We were very happy with the work done. The cost listed below includes electrical and propane gas subcontracting.

Genstar was by far the most professional company i have ever dealt with. They came and removed my old generator and then installed a new one. whole process only took a few weeks. I would definitely. recommend them to my friends and family. Pam, the women in the office was a doll, if you had a question she always got back to you ASAP. Great Company !!!!!!!!!!!!

BEWARE GENSTAR!! At first I was extremely pleased with service. Called up saying I have a generator emergency and Lance showed up within 2 hours. He came out and diagnosed the issue and determined that a 2nd trip was required to fix all of the problems. When contacting them again for the 2nd trip, Lance refused service citing the house has "a lot of expensive electronics in your home.". What house doesn't? Wouldn't it be easier to tell customer to unplug them instead of saying this? Don't you have insurance should the techs break something? Lance then goes on to say in an email "Your generator system is slightly unorthodox, and I fear stumbling into an unusual situation.".. He refuses to get into details of this statement at all by never responding to the email. It was my understanding that this was a reputable service company that knew situations and howto respolve unorthodox systems.. Guess these reviews are for oil changes and not actual service calls. Then several months later I contact them to have generator serviced and they tell me to call company xyz... Would NEVER contact them again for service as the Lance/techs seemed liked he's worked on generators while on-site, but then to get him to come back out and service the remaining problems has been one excuse after another. There is no one else has his company is a one man band so if you go with this company you'll be stuck finding another.

"While on site I observed this homeowner's interaction with a general contractor and an electrician. The homeowner was looking to pin blame, and demand compensation for some electronics failures inside his home. There was a hint of litigation in the exchange. Some customers are better left for others. And this homeowner is one of them. We simply did not want to become one of his targets, so we politely referred him to another generator company."

Wow wow and wow. These people are great. I was in the dark all weekend. Call Pam on Monday at around 9am . lance was in my yard in a hour. Problem fixed . He had the part on the truck. It was like Christmas!!!! Thank you Thank you. These guys rock. I am a big fan!!!!!!!!!

The customer service response from Genstar was what you would expect, but rarely receive these days. Prompt and professional phone service and response to my needs.
Generator battery exploded when our power went out during hurricane Matthew and generator tried to start. Called my current and now previous service provider and was told "things happen" and that if the battery exploded it was something much more than the battery.
Terminated agreement with said company and called Genstar. They were extremely busy after the hurricane and I truly expected them not to come out for several days since I was never a customer of Genstar. Called Saturday morning and they were out Saturday afternoon and even called to let me know they were on the way.
When the tech arrived, he checked the generator from one end to the other and replaced battery. After checking connections, tech started the generator and it's working correctly. This type of service is lacking in almost every area, but it was refreshing to come upon a company like Genstar that puts the customer first. Thanks so much!

My late husband secured the installation and annual maintenance of this whole house generator due to his illness and his need to have power for AC and medical 24/7 365 days a year. Lance, the owner and Pam his Office Assistant have ALWAYS been professional, courteous and available to support me now that my husband has passed and I have a critical medical need for the same generator service should power go out for whatever reason.
In my opinion, this team is the absolute Best you can ask for and they are highly recommended by me. I recently recommended them to a gentleman with a terminal illness that needed quick installation. He told me this was done as quickly as it possibly could be done with electrical installation by another firm and inspections by the Fire Dept., etc. He could not thank me enough for this recommendation and I am pleased that his last days were filled with Peace of mind that he had what he needed and that Genstar was there to support him if needed.
Can't say enough positive things about this Group!

The technician was very professional. He explained what he was going to do and then serviced both generators. He arrived at the exact time that was given and went right to work. The job site was left clean. I was very pleased with this company and will use them again for regular maintenance. The office manager, Pamela, was also very nice to deal with. Very pleasant and made contact with me to make sure everything went as planned. NOTE: service was performed at two separate residences. Will definitely recommend this company to friends and family.

It could not have gone better. The teck arrived on time, on a Sunday no less, and immediately went to getting the generator up and running. In a relatively short time it was working perfectly. I strongly recommend this firm for any generator problems that may occur.

I had a 10 year old portable generator refurbished after a long period of not being used. They picked up at the generator to provide me a estimate of repairs. After agreeing on what was to be repaired they performed the repair in a timely and professional manner.

Everything went great - the owner, Lance, came out to evaluate our home generator. After looking at generator and doing a lot of maintenance and putting in battery, Lance tells us that generator may be 10 years old, but is essentially brand new and has never been started until Lance started it. So obviously Lance was very honest, because he did not try to sell us anything and only tuned up our generator and set it up to run for 10 minutes every Wednesday afternoon to keep it charged. Lance explained everything to us about how our generator works and what appliances and electrical outlets it supports. This is a whole house generator that Lance explained now sells for about $10,000 !
We were very impressed with his knowledge and honesty...Found this company on Angie's List and agree with all the positive reviews... Great service, great company, great owner....Thank you!

Lance actually arrived early and was very personable and professional.
He was thorough and checked all components. Instead of a more expensive
service he determined that we just had a fouled plug and efficiently had our Generac humming in no time!

By not starting my portable generator enough, the carburetor became clogged. Own this it for insurance against storm caused power outages. Lance was very professional cleaned the carb, gave me some pointers. He even tested the outlets. He called ahead when he was available to arrive earlier than scheduled appointment. Cleaned up after he was finished. Definitely recommend.
