Our Inspector has been licensed through the State of Florida since 1983 as a Building Contractor. In 2008 we opened our Inspection Division and obtained Home Inspector Licensing as well. Called Bill Doyle to do a wind mitigation inspection on a house I was purchasing since he did one on the house 5 years ago. I could not use that report since it was not on the new required form. Bill worked with me to get an acceptable time for the inspection to occur and then he showed up promptly as scheduled. In fact he arrived before I did and did the inspection outside the home before I arrived, leaving only the inspection of the attic space to be completed after I arrived. I was disappointed to learn that many of the credits that the previous owner received on his homeowner's insurance were no longer applicable since the standards have changed in the past 5 years. What is a hip roof no longer qualifies since there are dormers with gables that take up 14% of the roof line and the maximum now allowed is 10%. I promptly received a preliminary report, but the final report was delayed for a few days because the inspector could not get a copy of the roof permit from the city for the roof replacement done 9 years ago.
