Don't sign the contract unless it specifies a delivery date. Read the contract – inquire about any areas left blank.
It took 5+ months from the initial quote to the installation. Over 4 months from date the contract was signed and deposit cleared my bank until the actual installation. Install was rescheduled twice.
In the end the vendor gave a small discount for my inconvenience but slipped in extra charges to offset the discount offered.
No advance check by World of Windows for product size accuracy. Installer found error on-site, just prior to install. Be sure you have installer check finished opening size before they start tearing out your existing doors or windows!
If permitting turnaround is used as an excuse for delay. Be aware that most permits are applied for by the company and issued the same day by the municipality where you live according to the City of St. Petersburg, FL. However, I recently learned that for jobs like doors, windows, storm shutters the process also involves advance submission, review and approval of schematic drawings to a City Planner which can take some time. Best to inquire about turnaround on this aspect of the job.
Ask about the production process – are there middlemen or mfg. involved? This company uses both a mfg. AND a middleman "assembler" in Orlando.
Ask if they use “jobber” crews. Get names of their crew members, if possible.
Ask about the customer service side of the org. Do they keep the customer informed throughout the process? This company offered NO customer service updates by phone or email until install rescheduling became an issue at the tail end of the process.
If using a single contractor, ask if there are multiple jobs being worked on at the same time and how yours will fit into the schedule.
Put all company phone numbers in your phone so ID is in place and calls can be monitored.

Salesman was nice but once deposit was paid, date set to receive windows (6-8 weeks) could never get a hold of him. When it was 10 weeks I called and spoke with Jan, office person, who insisted I told her I would be out of town till the 29th of September and to hold off on the windows. I never told her that, but she argued and insisted just the same. Come to find out, a family member with same last name had ordered windows and was out of town so my paperwork was filed incorrectly. Their attitude was and quot;oh welland quot;, like it was a joke. I am having lots of work done and scheduling as best I can with information given by contractors so it caused an inconvenience. No kind of compensation was made to me, no effort to apologize. I felt the concern was not to make the customer happy. In fact, several family members have had windows installed in several homes and no discount of any kind offered. The windows arrived 11 weeks later, the installer was very good, no damage to anything. The door arrived on the 12th week and again the installer was very good. The owner came to my home and was willing to make sure everything was to my satisfaction and had the casing around the door re-done and ordered another window that had a scratch. It is all said and done now, happy with the windows and I guess things happen but they could improve customer relations.
I am glad that I am using my contractor for install. I would hate to give them more responsibility for my home. They can't even keep you informed on your product. I would not recommend them, and I will not be using them for the rest of my home. I am actually so happy that we made the decision to just order the three at this time, as didn't spend $$,$$$ with them for the whole house. Since this product is offered by so many other vendors, why would you chose to deal with such poor customer service.
Jobs took twice as long as they told us as they didn't schedule a helper for the installer, which he needed for large heavy windows. Very difficult when you have to be home for them.
Like another reviewer I did have to call them repeatedly for quotes, or to have questions answered.
They do come back out and take care of any problems.
and aluminum walls to be impact rated. Other contractors did not have impact rated walls. WoW spent a lot of time locating impact product and designing the room to be hurricane impact rated. However, in the end we did not do the patio
due to other reasons – city codes, air conditioning, etc. We just had the house itself done.
WoW was very helpful in picking out rated product that also would match the house interior and exterior.
For example, for the living room we got windows with bronze exterior and white interior. It was very helpful that
we could go to their nice showroom and see the real product. The quote was completive with the 4 other
quotes that we received. I have certain requirements for final payments on jobs for me.
Good contractors don’t have a problem with it and WoW was OK with it. The installation was timely.
The installation was outstanding. We were amazed at the professionalism of the installers. A sliding glass door in a
bathroom was tricky and involved cutting a lot of tile. The installers stopped by the store and got new tile cutting blades. The end result for that door and the entire installation was perfect. Not a single nit. The city inspection was a breeze.
I know people who have used lower grade contractors for impact windows, some contractors are not even licensed.
They have encountered the inability to get hurricane discounts on their insurance, poor quality work, etc. For
such a big ticket item I wanted a high quality, very professional contractor. WoW exceeded our expectations.
