Use this contractor if you: 1. Want a bad attitude. 2. Want a mediocre, indifferent job. 3. Enjoy being told by the contractor afterword that he "didn't like the job" or "didn't make any money." I used Mr. Anderson Dec. 2020 to plaster walls and ceilings at a house I'm rehabbing. He came recommended from a contractor I trust. Things started off ok. He came, scoped out the work, named a price, then came when he said he would. He promised several times "you won't be able to tell the difference" between the new work and the rest of the walls and ceiling. When he was done Christmas Eve, I came to the job site, did a cursory inspection, then paid him. After Christmas, reviewing with my contractor, I found several problems. A wall joint was crooked and cracked. The wall near the ceiling bulges out so the cabinets won't hang properly without a lot of shimming. He matched the texture for the most part but didn't knock it down, so it looks jagged in parts. I've been sanding two days fixing that. The adjacent wall has a crooked boundary with the ceiling; he didn't plaster far down enough. In the master bath, a wall is bowed where he skimmed but applied hardly any plaster. All of these defects are quite noticeable. I pointed them out politely. He got defensive and angry. He didn't offer to fix any of this bad workmanship on his own dime. He wanted $300. I had been expecting a demand for additional cash, so I offered $200. He said NO, stalked out to his truck claiming I was trying to trick him, and peeled off. I've hired a lot of contractors over the years. The sad truth is there are ONLY a handful of good ones who do good work in a conscientious fashion for a fair price.
Response from William Anderson Plaster & Stucco

"Wow. When you threatened to place a bad review because I wouldn't haggle with you about my already low price, I thought you were kidding. You must have been really angry about that to make up such a long story. My prices are already quite low so that takes away the necessity for discounts and haggling. As a real estate investor, you should already be aware of that. I can't imagine that such threat tactics work in your line of business. However, leaving bad reviews about the hard working men and women that are just trying to make ends meet is bad form on your part. Also, it defeats the purpose of this type of forum, because people can't trust the reviews they read."
