TOMMY TODD LANDSCAPE & DESIGN
About us
Since 1982 our goal has been to create beautiful outdoor environments for our customers that increase their personal enjoyment and property value. For more than 25 years, Tommy Todd Landscape & Design has been transforming the landscapes of the greater Tampa Bay area. Founded in 1982 by Tommy Todd, the company initially focused on grass plug lawn conversions, lawn and ornamental pest control and residential landscape projects. We expanded into grass plug marketing, tree farming and retail lawn and garden centers before settling into our niche as Design/ Build Landscape and Hardscape Contractors. Although we have done many renowned commercial landscape projects like World Woods Golf Course, Black Diamond Golf Course, Raymond James Financial, Stetson Law School, Eckerd College and many others, our focus and 90% of our business has come from homeowners just like you.

I was so disgusted at this point that I told them not to worry about replacing any plants and that I would take care of it myself. I would caution anyone working with them to have detailed conversations about a time line (which they may ignore anyway) and specifics on the costs and work that they were going to do and if additional costs could be assessed without being listed in the contract.
"Unfortunately [member name removed] did not present the correct information that we have documented with our proposals and invoices. The original contract was for landscaping as per the plan, transplanting a crape myrtle, trimming up her Paurotis Palm clump and called for 1600 sg ft of sod to be installed to the right of her driveway for $5941.07. Irrigation retro was to be billed at time and materials which was $203.00. She added (1) 30 gallon Weeping Yaupon Holly, (1) 7gallon Australian Tree Fern and (8) additional 1 gallon Leriopi while subtracting 1 pallet of sod (400sg ft) which gave her a new total of $6000.00 for landscape and sod plus $203 for irrigation for a grand total of $6203.00 Note she did not pay for the extra pallet of sod and the trees and plants cost her an addional $58.93 over her origianl contract.. On Moday December the 8th Barbara with my office sent her an email requesting final payment on the balance of the job and referenced the invoices that were due upon receipt and sent to her on November 28. She asked for us to do addional work as recommened by her lawn spray company to remove and replace addiotional sod on the left side of her driveway (not in our original scope of work). She also asked us to move a few plants that did not allow her gate to open fully which my manager James did for her. She later said that 2 of the Bulbine were not looking good and James repalced them and noted 2 more looked weak and he would have changed them as well if he had them with him. None of these plants were dead and have grown out in our nursery but we want our new jobs to look their best. When James looked at the addional sod work with sod cutter rental, dump fees, labor and the price of the grass it was obviously more than we would have charged if this job was done when we were doing the original work. She did not like the $600 price to do the extra sod work which included all of the elements I described above. We offered last week to replace the other 2 plants and she said no because she wanted to write this inaccurate and malicious report. Last of all her job was sceduled for a specific week when she returned from a trip and we had not completed the project from the previous week and were going to start the next day. We usually call clients a day ahead if we are delayed and it was our fault for not doing so. However we are an outside construction business that is affected by weather and occasionally other contractors schedules and 99% of our clients are very polite and understanding and extremly gracious with our staff and their compliments on the services we provide. Since you folks grade our services based on hearsay, inaccurate information I think it is only fair in our rebuttal that we grade them as a client. In this case it would be an F. Sincerely, Thomas N Todd President"
"[Member Name] is not accurate with his dates, amounts or on the completion of the work we did at his home. Our first project was landscaping in his small backyard pool area in June 2007 for $3279.55 with bamboo and Palm tees. Our second project was December 2009 for $2346.50 for understory landscaping in the pool area and $10,947.00 for a new Travertine pool deck. He was still Avery satisfied customer. Our last project was re landscaping the front and left side yard and irrigation for8150.50 in April 2013. While completing this project we picked up areas of his pool pavers, cut out roots that were lifting them up, re based and sanded at no charge because he had been a good customer. When my Landscape Manager James met with Brad to walk through the job and present the invoice and collect our final 50% payment he refused to pay him as per our contract with the balance due upon completion. There was one plant on backorder that was not on his bill and the rest of the job was compete. James called me and told me he refused to pay so I called Brad and left him a message that said that was unacceptable as his job was complete except for a special order plant that was not in stock. He called me back and was offended that I called him but after our discussion he agreed to pay and James went back and collect a check. Because of his rude response to my manager and myself we assumed he no longer wanted to do business with our firm. He did not pay for the backordered plant so we were finished with his project and one of my masons spent over a half day at no charge repairing his pool deck so we were done! It seems odd to me after our long and continued working relationship to have Brad act the way he did and I regret that it ended. Thomas Todd President"
"[member name removed] are the best of customers that really appreciate our hard work. We will always go the extra mile for them. They represent the quality of clientele that we are fortunate to work with on a daily basis. That is why I still love this business and helps me overlook the few people that can never be satisfied. We look forward to completing the transformation of their backyard living space. Thanks [member name removed]! TommyTodd"
"I met [member name removed] on three occasions to consult, to review the design and to go over her revision. She wanted to make further changes and came into our office and spent at least 2 hours with our designer to make additional changes and this was done as a courtesy because we only offer one region with no charge. After she left Warren spent another 4 hours redoing her plan and emailed her that it was completed with no response. She had to.d him before leaving our office that she would come back and pick up the revised plans which she never did. I also sent other contractors out for a screen enclosure and she ran him around as well. This is why I stopped advertising with Angie' because of the open forum for dishonest people like [member name removed]. We have been in business for 31 successful years and my son will take it for another 30+ and we work very hard to please our clients and exceed their expectations. It really bothers us when you have such a small % less than 1 that make the time to discredit a a hard working family business. I had after my first meeting declined to do a plan for [member name removed] as I was not comfortable with her intentions but she asked me to reconsider. I forgot there was two meetings prior to our 1st design review that makes four meetings. Tommy Todd"
"I am very surprised at [member name removed] comments and grading of our service. We took extra steps to give them a larger space for a BB ball court that required remobilizing our crew with additional work at no extra charge . I had nothing but pleasant conversations with [member name removed] and I did not receive any comments about lack of followthrough or unfinished requests. I do have a designer that may have been the disconnect because he was very busy this spring and a bit overwhelmed. However I handled the sale and scheduling of the project and did I not receive any feedback. Very Surprised! Tommy Todd"
The repair work they did on the irrigation system included fixing some broken lines and adding a few extra sprinkler heads. I hadn't even asked them to do this but they really went above and beyond for me.
