I had never gotten yelled at by a pool guy - until today that is. The pinch a penny guy Ian left a lever open in our garage and our garage started flooding. My babysitter who was home at the time turned off the lever and was able to minimize the water damage. When I called Pinch a penny they sent Ian back - he came and told me that because the water wasn't leaking anymore it is difficult to prove whose fault it was. He also told me that my babysitter shouldn't have turned the lever off or if we really wanted to, we should have turned the main pump off. (My babysitter is 15 yrs old and is not a trained pool tech) Not only was he not ready to take responsibility, he was also very disrespectful (think rolling his eyes, & huffing etc) and argumentative. He refused to clean up the mess because "with all due respect he is a pool guy not a cleaner" So now I am stuck with this huge water mess in my garage. Aside of my obvious venting I wanted to put this up as a caution to anyone who is still using Pinch a penny - just be careful.

If there is a big storm I generally call them. They have a lot of clients, so they're generally overwhelmed after a big storm, but they always come within a day or two if I call them after a big storm. They come out every week and clean for us. For the entire month they charge me $75. They're very knowledgeable, they can generally tell you why something is happening with your pool and what's going on. If they can't get hold of you, they have a note, they'll leave you little notes on what they did in your pool and if there is anything additional you need to do or you need to keep an eye out for. So, for example, in the summers, the pool level starts going low. So she will either email us or leave a note or somebody from the company will call us and let us know that we need to add water to the pool. They're very professional and very responsive. If they don't know the answer to something they will research it.

I have used this company for the past several years and, as an absentee landlord, it has been a blessing to have them taking care of the pool. Whenever something is wrong with the mechanicals, they have my permission to just fix the small stuff and they just give me a call for approval for big repairs. They have always treated me fairly.
