I am a contactor, and had an incident on a jobsite where one of my employees accidentally damaged the lamp post in the front yard. I called Eric at Maynard Electric, described the situation, and he assured me he would be out that day to get me a quote. Not only did he follow through, he was on site within one hour (above and beyond). He gave me a quote of $350 to complete the job which I found to be very competitive. He then explained that he would have it completed two days later on Friday, and even explained the same to my client, which he appreciated greatly. When Friday came, Eric showed up as he promised, completed the job for the quoted amount, and notified me when he was done. I will not be contacting any other electrical contractor in the future as the professionalism Eric and Maynard Electric exhibited was flawless and I intend to continue using their services.

I contacted Maynard Electric after they were recommended by a friend who is an investor. We purchased a property that had a unfinished permit from a previous owner. The county gave us a list of things that needed to be fixed.
They came out and quoted the job, and the estimator told me he knew the inspector, and what the inspector would want and could help us quickly and easily manage the process. We awarded them the contract. They had a lot of problems signing onto the permit because they refused to talk to the chief inspector who told me to have them call him. Once they finally got on the permit and did the work they missed several inspections. Which added time and costs to my project as I got charge by the county for each missed inspection. Once it was finally inspected they let the inspector add on additional work that was never part of the permit.
When it came time for phase 2, they went ahead and did the work without my permission even though I specifically told them I needed to wait for the plumber to finish with his part of phase 1.
The work product seemed fine, but I they added cost to my project and were not easy to deal with.
"We are truly sorry you are not satisfied with our services and we value your opinion and always use this information to help improve our company. As far as us letting inspector add additional work that is simply not true or possible (we have no control of what inspector may ask you to correct on someone else permit done in the past). As we explained when we walked the job with you, there was a lot of additional work that possible could be done, it’s very difficult to estimate a job when you come behind someone else work and try to clean up their mess. Not to mention we have to guess at what an electrical inspection might consider a flagrant code violation. We gave you an estimate based only on what you wanted to do and we agreed to wait and see if additional work was needed. We were very clear with this in our conversation and spelled this out again clearly in your estimate re-read your contract. Again sorry your not satisfied we just did work you asked us to do and agreed with you to wait for inspection to see if additional work might be needed in an effort to save you money. Then when additional work is needed, even when we advised you it would most likely be needed you give us an undeserved D for our extra efforts. Richard Maynard"
After the assessment and estimate was completed, the schedule of work agreed upon was March 14, 15, 18, 19. We arranged other construction work around this. On Thursday, March 14th, , the crew was 1/2 a day late starting. They then called on Friday morning to cancel for that day, due to a worker calling in sick. On Monday, 3/18, they simply did not show up. They also did not show up on Tuesday, 3/19. No calls either day to explain. We called Tuesday morning: late in the afternoon, the call was finally returned, and we were told that they had other jobs, and would be back onsite on Friday, 3/22. We explained that this was unacceptable: that we had given ample time to complete the job on schedule such that it would not impact other activities at the site, and that they'd need to be there Wed - Fri. We were told that they had booked another job on Wed, and could not cancel, but would be there Thursday and Friday. Thursday, 3/21, they arrived at 9:30, took an 1 1/2 hr lunch, and left well before 5. Friday, the work was still not complete. We left a message over the weekend that we'd need them there early Monday to finish the work for the other Trades scheduled to be onsite. We were called on Monday and told that the crew would not be onsite again until we re-installed flooring, as it was too difficult to work. This was a complete contradiction to what we were told during the assessment/estimate, as we were in the process of removing the floor/sub-floor as they were starting, and were told that would make it easier to run the wire, as this is a mobile home. We also bought plywood, rented a truck, and brought a sheet in the house that first day so they could work easily. We offered to bring in the remaining sheets and move them where needed, and were declined. Additionally, we walked in to find one of the electricians smoking in the house, with the open floor/insulation exposed.
UPDATE: 7/12/13
A company representative responded to our issues, apologized for the situation, remediated remaining issues, and provided a 10% discount for the services provided. The site has now been serviced correctly, and we feel satisfied with the transaction.
The labelling was not as nice as I expected. Either nicely typed labels on a laminated card, or labels made with a label maker would have been very professional. Instead all we were left with is some had scribbled note on the box.
