Mark Michaels Tree Service

We hired Mark Michaels Tree Service in April, they quoted us $2000, and they began the work on April 14th. The quote was for taking the Bay tree down 10’, taking down one leaning Pine tree, and trimming up the Oak tree in the front yard. They trimmed up the Oak, but left many branches in the yard. They ran over my paver with the lift and destroyed it and never said a thing about it although it was very obvious. After they said they were done they told me the Bay tree looks better if the canopy isn’t cut back. They had not removed anything from the top even though that is what was requested and what was included in the quote. My husband said that it needed to be cut down 10’. He called Mark and Mark came out and looked at it. They proceeded and took 10’ off the top, but left numerous cut branches hanging off of and in the tree rather than removing them and left a huge branch hanging over the shed which should have been removed, as well. My husband sent Mark a text message about all of the hanging cut branches of which 8 or 9 were good size and told him, “Hello Mark this is Danny probably about 15 or 20 branches came down for that wind we had the other day and I see there’s about probably eight or nine good size one that are up in the tree they’re dead they just haven’t fallen yet”. Mark said, “ok we will get them”. Mark came by, but he did absolutely nothing except to pick up the few branches we had lying by the garbage can and put them in the can. My husband texted him back again and aid, “Thank Mark I see you came out and got the pile that I stacked up but there’s some rather big ones still up in the tree there’s a whole blob of them plus about 5 or 6 other ones that are just ready to fall or waiting for a wind I’m not sure?” Mark told my husband, “I will not be getting those”. My husband said, “That’s fine I was going to have you come every year and trim everything but I’ll find somebody else thank you.” Mark then said, “Ha ha Do your **** job every year?” I took pictures of everything and will post them with this review, if possible, including the huge branch that fell out after all of this was said and done. I was astounded that anyone in the customer service profession could act like that especially the owner of a company. We wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. It was very bad service and Mark is a nasty, unprofessional person.

Mark was punctual for our scheduled appointment and very professional. He was able to give me a fair quote on the spot as well as for our neighbor. He and his crew were able to start immediately and worked the entire day (literally from 10a-5p) and even blow off leaves from roof gutters. All the trees look great and I know they were done right! I would definitely recommend Mark and his team!

It went well.  There was a small misunderstanding about the price of an extra, smaller citrus tree struck by the elm from an employee that was "too good to be true" and was corrected by Mr. Michaels to be much higher.  Employees clean cut and professional overall and the work was quality.  I ordered extra work without speaking directly to the owner and that was my mistake!

Mark was extremely responsive and provided a quote the same day I called. He offered a good fair price, and most importantly did quality work. He showed up early with a team ready to work. Mark was present the whole time the work was performed, supervising the team and helping out as needed. Don't let the lack of Angie's List reviews dissuade you. I would highly recommend Mark Michaels Tree Service.

We have used this service in the past and were pleased.

However, this time the workers broke our outside light fixture.  And destroyed our trumpet tree that was in the area

under the palms.

We were unable to match the post light and have had to purchase two to have a matching pair.  We also have the expense of' hiring an electrician for installation.

We requested that Mr. Michaels reimburse us for the cost of " one fixture."  $156.00.  He agreed and I sent a copy of the bill

for said fixture. on 11/02/14.  We have not heard from him.

I have used Mark's service three times in the last four years.  He is always professional and courteous as is his crew.  All work was performed as contracted for with no problems.  I recommended him to a neighbor who used him as well.  No problems at all.

As mentioned by another customer, he approached us driving by after another job on someone else's home.   I'd been wanting to have it done, and he seemed like a decent guy.   The cost was reasonable for the work done, they cleaned everything up, and did a few extra (small) things that I requested with no hesitation.   Good experience.

He was good and prompt but my only complaint, and this is my problem I suppose, is I asked him to advise me while looking, on what he felt needed trimming and he missed a giant palm tree that desperately needed trimming and now it sits for another year until I need someone to come back again for the trimming. Otherwise he was very matter of fact, came and did the job exactly as he described on time. He was a little pricy. 

They experience was very good with them. They were basically coming around asking because we have a big storm coming up and people needed things to be removed. We had been thinking about doing that anyway so I said yes and they got to work right away. They got everything done very quickly and professionally.
