Father and Sons have not been able to stop the air flow out of the vents from peeling the paint off the ceilings. Father and Sons
have tried five times to correct the problem. The Air Handler Company, Goodman , says their Air Handler installed was for
a much larger house.

Mike was punctual and honest - did not attempt any shenanigans regarding the A/C service call and I felt I could trust him as he recommended a course of action to maintain the current system which is nearing end of life and reassess at the next casualty. I was suspecting that he would attempt to sell me a new heat exchanger in the air handler even a new air handler, but instead offered that better money could be spent in maintaining the current system and then research new components later. Mike took the time to explain the pitfalls of the latest Carrier and quot;GreenSpeedand quot; system which offers excellent efficiency but has experienced expensive module failures. Their initial estimates were far less than what the Home Depot contracting rep provided for a simularly sized (5 ton) system. It's good to work with local contractors, it seems you generally have a better chance of being treated with integrity....especially if they'd like to come back.
Since the leak in the defective upstairs system (that needed new air handler coils) was slow, I elected to recharge/replenish the coolant to provide an additional month or so of time to research my replacement options. Since we were entering a cooler season, I began conducting online research to work through the multitude of options available (air handler capacity (tonnage), SEER options, smart thermostats available).
After numerous emails to discuss potential options with Father and Son's A/C and Heating, Inc. owner, Kevin Schneider, I settled on installing two (upstairs and downstairs) Amana 15 SEER systems. Throughout my two-month research period, Kevin was very supportive and provided good information and cost trade-offs with various options. Kevin was very responsive to my email inquiries throughout the process.
Once I contracted with Father and Son's A/C and Heating, Inc. to complete the work, I requested a short notice time window to install the new systems. Again, Father and Son's met my requirements and scheduled the work.
The two days of installation were superb. On day one, the crew (Sean and Sam) arrived on schedule and professionally installed the downstairs system. Again, on day two, the crew (Sean and Josh) arrived on schedule and patiently worked with me to install the larger 3/8and quot; copper line required to support a larger upstairs air handler. About 40'-50' of copper tube had to be run from an upstairs air-handler closet into the garage and out to the new heat pump condenser. Sean worked patiently with me to minimize the esthetic effect of running a new line. Together, we worked through installing, configuring and programming the smart thermostats (NEST). Throughout the installation, the technicians were prompt, polite, patient and very neat and clean.
The follow-up billing, paperwork and inspection went without a hitch.
Overall, I found the Father and Son's A/C and Heating, Inc. to be extremely professional and friendly. Due to Father and Son's A/C and Heating, Inc. competitive pricing and prompt and professional service, we now use them for air conditioning and heating service and repairs on 11 additional properties.
In the highly competitive air conditioning and heating market of Florida, I highly recommend Father and Son's A/C and Heating, Inc. expertise and services.
"We installed this unit on 10/09/2009 a list of the return service calls are listed. Coincidently we had to run a new drain line with the install because drainage problems were a factor from the beginning. According to our records on 07/02/2010 inv. # 005001 we were called out due to a strange noise that the member thought was coming from the new unit. We went out and nothing was wrong. No charge. On 07/20/2010 inv. # 005220 we had a service call about a tripped breaker. We went out and found the sub panel wired up by their electrician was not wired up correctly and needed a larger wire. Her electrician had wired both of her systems off of one breaker . We explained to her that her electrician was needed to rewire the systems in her house. No charge. 08/26/2010 inv.#005599 We were called out on a water leak problem in which case we found the unit dripping wter on the tile floor of the closet, the technician noted that we may need to raise the unit a few inches to get the unit to drain better. We also found a bad compressor and changed it out under the factory parts warranty. The compressor was still running but the tech noticed that it didn't sound right so we opted to change the compressor out before the warranty ran out. It may have continued to run for yrs but as a favor to the member we changed it. We did not charge her for any labor or freon even though it was out of the labor warranty. No charge. 01/12/2011 we returned on a water leak and raised the back of the air handler on the stand because the flooring was sloped to the back of the closet. That inv. # is 006414 and we did not charge her. I'm not disputing that we had a drain problem, but we were not out 5 times for a drain problem only the last two calls and the other two were not our fault."
"In our defense we were the only company that would work on this building due to the age and the total deterioration of the water cooling system and the building. The owner did not live on the premises yet and our schedules did not line up all the time. We had no issues with the owner and he was very easy to work with. This building has a huge problem with condensation due to the age and style of air conditioning equipment. All of the water cooling lines and plumbing are condensing and due to old insulation and piping. We have stopped working there due to liability reasons with the condensation problems, but we were eventually able to fix the customer's condensation problem."
