This year when I needed to renew contract for another year, everything went very smoothly. Local manager had the authority to commit to a price with minimal headquarters approval. No increase from last year ($88/mo + tax). New manager even identified a 5% senior discount. By paying in advance for twelve months I get the thirteenth month free. A good experience.

Every year I go through a price negotiation hassle with them. The unit is fine, and they keep the place clean. The manager is helpful and he is on-site. I have an indoor air conditioned unit. I have no dissatisfaction with the unit or how the place is operated. However, I believe the majority of renters are short-term, and I need long-term space. They do not allow the manager, or even the regional manager, much pricing authority. Therefore, the contract renewal each year is frustrating. I end up coming out of these negotiations typically with a price I feel is reasonable, but the process of getting there is a hassle. I am happy with them overall, but would prefer to have a long-term agreement with them. They have a very rigid headquarters-type mentality. It is well run, but with too much emphasis on headquarter control and too little control given to the local managers.
