We obtained the quote, discussed exactly what we were looking for. We clarified that we want this work done right, no shortcuts, and are willing to pay what it's going to cost. We were provided a contract that stated 3 payments (start, middle, after completion of work), time of project completion 12/26/11, and a reassurance that everything was going to be done right. Issues: Started late, 2-3 weeks after stated time. Window was going to be framed with wood vs. block (a shortcut, I requested the wood be removed and replaced with block) When he placed the blocks in the window he flushed this against the house (no room for stucco, now I can see all the block lines) Wired ceiling fan incorrectly (advised him but nothing was corrected) Did not scrap off old paint (now new paint is flaking off) Requested multiple payments beyond the 3 stated in the contract (even stopped working until I was able to pay after I have already paid out the first two payments) Replaced exterior door with inside door that was to small (he placed an additional 2x4 in the doorway so the door would fit) Never moved the duct. Project was NEVER completed. Desk never built. After a number of complaints and only $200 left to pay him, he wrote me a letter to advise me he quits. I have been more than accommodating to this man; if a renegotiation was in order then I would have been ok with that as well.Additionally, during the time this man had access into my house a giant water container (used for water dispensers) full of loose change came up missing. I spoke with him about this and he stated he would ask his current side kick and follow up with me. He never followed up with me. A police report was then filed. I will never use this man again, I will never recommend this man, I was cheated out of my money for a half a job.
Description of Work: Wife and I saved up to remodel a bedroom, the goal was to build in a walk in closet, paint, replace 2 doors, move ceiling fan/duct and take out/block window (to accommodate the new closet), build a small desk.
