Cyrus Mallory Painting

I briefly know this fellow and assumed he was honest. We are members of the same club. He comes across as friendly, easy going. He provided a rough estimate of how much it would likely cost and I trusted he would perform normally. He told me he could do a better job if he did not spray the exterior, because in his 30 yrs experience, he found hand painting provided a much better result. He told me I would be surprised at how fast he was at painting. Once again, I trusted him. He is sooooooo very slow. He would take time off to supposedly go after supplies he needed. Once again, I trusted him because I thought I knew him and because of this he wouldn't cheat me. Other workers pointed out how slow he was and how he was always gone after supplies. As it turned out, I spent just under $10,000 for the work he did, likely twice what the job should have cost. It is entirely my fault for trusting this dishonest man. He talks a very smooth game. It is part of his schtick. When I told him he was taking too long and overcharging me, he just smiled and said "it is, what it is, man". He was basically laughing in my face for trusting him. This is a person, I thought was kind of a friend, someone who would never cheat me. He did, big time and it is all my fault for trusting him and not counting what I had paid him until it was too late. I wanted to give the paint job to someone I knew and thought I could trust to do a good, honest job. I was suckered. I had to hire a replacement painter to finish the job.
