My neighbor and rip-off pricing expert.  Thinking I would get a decent deal from my neighbor for a drain clearing with power auger I didn't bother to ask price--after all, he's my neighbor and others advertised prices like $79, any drain.  I was rudely mistaken--total charge $400 including $75 to show up even though he only lives 4 houses down the street. In addition to carelessly  denting the edge shingles with his ladder, he tore up the lead flashing for my vent stack with his auger--and didn't bother to tell me that I now had holes in my flashing which would allow rainwater to infiltrate.  I only discovered this damage in a routine roof sweeping and inspection.  (Yes, he cleared my drain, but for $400 I think I was gouged and taken advantage of for a job that is routine for any other plumbing service.)  I would not use Better Plumbing again...ever.

He explains what he is doing. He has a wicked sense of humor. He is very professional and doing a great job.

When I told him I was not satisfied with the job since he did not provide the promised diagram or map of the system, he offered me $200 back IF I would say I was happy with the job.  I told him he could not pay me $200 to tell a lie. That I was not satisfied. I wanted sufficient documentation to collect multiple estimates for what is going to be a very expensive job, but he seems be trying to prevent me from having the information I paid him for. The video company, whose name and number appear at the beginning of the video, say they charge $275 for the video plus $150 to remove the toilet if necessary (which Better Plumbing did). So it works out that David Tyska of Better Plumbing charged me $515 dollars for being at my house from 7:55 to 9:25 a.m. (a maximum of one and a half hours and moving a toilet.  HE NEVER PROVIDED THE PROMISED DIAGRAM.

He is very reliable and very dependable. He does very good work. He is more expensive but I think that is because he takes time in his work and uses the best equipment and resources possible.

Better Plumbing has serviced my home and condo for many years, and I have always been extremely pleased. Dave Tyska, the owner, does all the work himself, and he is very knowledgeable, professional, accomodating, and careful. For example, before entering the house he puts cloth booties on over his shoes, he provides options when possible, and has a great understanding of the plumbing systems of older homes. Because I never call anyone else for plumbing problems, I don't get others' estimates. I don't know if Dave's prices are high, low, or in-between -- I just know the work will be donewell and as quickly as possibly.
