He seemed to understand and be well-qualified.  He seemed to know the business well.  It didn't take long for him to figure out what needed to be done.  I had bought a used washing machine off of Craigslist.  The washer and dryer were delivered.  The dryer worked fine, but the washer failed.  He replaced the part, and it was fine.  I have used him for several jobs.  He was very professional and careful in what he did.  He was very meticulous.

We were able to easily schedule the appointment.  The problem started with a general diagnosis that our type of dishwasher's motor doesn't "hold up as well as he would like" and that our water temp was too low.  We were then charged a $20 diagnosis fee-at no point was any parts or labor to install utilized.  Upon expressing dissatisfaction with the diagnosis fee, Mike (  the tech and is the owner of the company) stated that he doesn't know how his ad on Angieslist reads, but his company doesn't get any of the $29.95 service call fee.  I later confirmed with Angieslist customer service that this statement was 100% incorrect.  It makes me wonder what just happened.  Beware of this Big Deal, it is a Big Bait and Switch.

RESPONSE TO COMPANY'S COMMENTS:

If by unmannerly you mean reacting to you-the owner's-comments
 (1)that you don't know how the angieslist big deal reads/is worded...really??? you are the owner and tech, one and the same
 (2)you don't get reimbursed by Angieslist for members payments for service call

There was no misunderstanding. I would be fine with paying for parts and labor if there was a fix
you could perform.  A diagnosis cannot be performed without a service call, by the way, so  congratulations
you made your original service call amount at my expense.  Where is the deal here for me?

A service call fee does not include costs for labor, parts, and diagnosis; they are not the same as a service call. Our coupon was understood by several customers; however, it was somehow misunderstood by this customer. We sincerely do not intend to mislead anyone. The customer requested service for her dishwasher. The complaint was that the dishwasher wasn’t cleaning dishes. After checking the customer’s dishwasher for 10-15 minutes; (checking water temps, water conditions/grade, etc.; possible causes of the problem stated) the customer was called into the kitchen to be given diagnostic information. The technician then explained the solution to the problem; a solution that has worked for countless customers with the same problem. After the customer was told there would be a $20.00 diagnostic fee the customer became very un-manner-able and threatened to make her dissatisfaction known via Angie’s List."

Irvin is awesome! He is very very nice! He left the place cleaner than before. He has over 30 years of experience. He and his son fixed my whole Air Conditioning problem, and they were some of the nicest people I have ever come across. They were extremely prompt.

He came just before thanksgiving to repair our stove and he needed to order the part. After he left, I discovered that there was a rod, so I cleaned it and got the stove running and we were able to cook thanksgiving dinner mostly because of what he showed me. I bought the part from him and kept it and will use it when it is needed. He came out and did not charge me anything and they were very friendly people. He did not try to make money of us and we felt comfortable with him.

After arriving home in the early evening on a Friday after a long holiday trip, we were faced with doing about 6 - 8 loads of washing. We quickly discovered that the spin cycle on the washer was not working at all, and the clothes had to be wrung out and dried for a very long time. Faced with the weekend ahead, we called the repair line for the company from which the washer was purchased. The call was, of course, routed somewhere to another continent, and we were told that Tuesday was the earliest appointment we could get for a service call. Humph, sez I--I'll just check Angie's List (which I should have done in the first place!). I quickly located the listing for B & B, and about 8:30, I called their listed number and spoke to Mr. Ervin Brown. I explained my problem, and he said he could be at our house between 8:00 and 9:00 the next morning (Saturday)! True to his word, Mr. Brown arrived at 8:40 the next morning, and quickly located the problem, made the repair, and was on his way within a half-hour. Mr. Brown was extremely courteous, pleasant, knowledgeable, professional, neat, and has an excellent background in the field. We were pleasantly surprised by his very reasonable fee, also. Next time, we will call Mr. Brown first!

This was the first time I had used his services. I called him and he came out right away and checked out my dryer and left to get some parts and he came back later that same day and repaired it. He was very courteous, competent and worked fast. The price was quite reasonable.

Mr. Brown was professional and kind. I made the call and he came that same day. He could have told me anything and I would have probably believed him. He did not take advantage of me and easily fixed the problem. He is well worth the $49.95 house call. He even gave me advice about other appliances. I expected it to cost more. Thankfully B & B Major Appliance is an honest company. Highly recommended!

Work went excellent. Ervin is fast, efficient and explained what he was doing while he was in the process of installing the gas line. Gas is trickier than electric and I felt that I needed a professional to hook up the gas line. Everything when smoothly and the stove works great.

Mr. Brown was great - he handled himself professional and made the entire issue easy. I was surprised that he allowed me to mail him a check and did not ask me to be at the tenants house for the repair as many contractors would - but he trusted me - which made me trust him to do a good job - and he did. He charged a reasonable amount for the work and I would definitely call him and use him again. I highly recommend B&B Appliance to anyone.

The other 2 companies that I called charged for each item that I wanted looked at, and if I didn't get them fixed they kept the money. This guy charged $45 for all 3 items, and deducted it from total, if only one was fixed. If I had 1 fixed with the other 2, I would still be charged for the extra ones.

Called him at 9:30 a.m., he said he would be at my house at 10:30 and showed up promptly. He left to get the correct relay and was back within 15 minutes, put it on and the frig was working immediately. I really like this man as he has good customer service skills and responded quickly since it was a refrigerator. He schedules his service calls as to customer's needs.

We contacted B&B for an estimate right before the Labor Day weekend. Ervin Brown scheduled to come out the following Tuesday. He was on time and conducted a thorough check of the washer. He found it was the control panel and ordered the part. It came in as expected and scheduled to install it. He was on time, but found that the electrical diagram needed was missing from the information pocket on the washer. He was able to install still, but the panel would not reset. He also felt there may have been a possibility another part was bad. He went out of his way to get the diagram and the part (we did not need in the end). He kept us informed of the order status. He just fixed the washer today. The diagram he was given was not complete, but he was able to resolve the issues with his knowledge of appliance repair. Through the whole process Ervin was very professional, polite and kept us informed every step of the way. Without a doubt I would recommend him to anyone needing appliance repair.

Our Kenmore refrigerator suddenly stopped cooling. We called the hardware store first thing Friday morning, and they firmly told us that they don't offer "same day" repairs, and that they couldn't get anyone to our house until the next Tuesday. We couldn't wait. Our food was spoiling, and that is a long time to go without a refrigerator. So we got the name of B&B Major Appliance Service from Angie's List. We immediately got Mr. Brown on the phone. He apologized that he currently was on a job and wouldn't be able to get to our house for 40 minutes and would that be OK? Less than 40 minutes later, he was at our door. He knew immediately what was wrong with the refrigerator, saying that this part burned out so much that he kept a supply of them in his truck. He immediately replaced the part, and our fridge was back in business. He was very knowledgeable and experienced and very professional. We would highly recommend him.

Excellent job! Came out in less than 2 hours after call. Very courteous. Our refrigerator had stopped cooling, but our freezer still worked. He diagnosed the problem, our timer had stopped working and the interior was filled with ice. He repaired quickly, defrosted and cleaned up. It was like there had never been a problem.
