All Star Appliance Repair

I would highly advise you stay as far away from this guy as you can get. He spends more time at the dog track then working. Over the course of a week Pat came by three different times and finally just gave up because he could not figure out how to fix the washer. Also, he is very crass and vulgar. I real moron!

Oct. 17, 2013 - I had All Star Appliance Repair Service come to look at a Kenmore Stack washing machine. Pat came out on a $59 service call and provided a written estimate for repair. I was told he needed to replace a burnt out motor, capacitor and timer unit for a total cost of $479.
I called another local service company (see my review on them) for a second opinion who charged a $44 service call. They tested the motor, capacitor and timer and found nothing wrong with them. It was found the lid switch was bad. Total repair cost including service call $127.
I called Pat to discuss his missed diagnosis and he started babbling excuses and then told me he never removed a panel or tested the motor or capacitor and yet he told me he did check the lid switch and it was fine. Why did he test the lid switch and not the motor, capacitor and timer? Was he simply incompetent or trying to sell me parts?
Once the lid switch was replaced by the second company the machine functioned properly.
When I pay a service professional I expect a correct and professional diagnosis. Pat and All Star Appliance offered neither.  And when confronted on the phone he was rude and unprofessional.
I wish I had consulted Angie's List first or seen the poor reviews found on a Google search. I always get a second opinion on expensive repairs and I'm glad I did this time.
I have reviewed several local St. Petersburg service companies which I have used for a variety of my home repairs on Angie's List with favorable outcomes, this is the first negative review I have posted. It is honest, factual and I have the receipts that document this case. Do not be misled by any replies to my review.
