James responded very quickly with an estimate and promised not ups or extras.  His service was part of a larger project on my patio that did not go nearly as well.  Action Pools was the last of three contractors on the jobsite and definitely the most professional.

As we approached the start date James and his associate Lee communicated well and completely explained their schedule and procedures.  When the day came for the work to commence they arrived on time and the two day project was completed on time as well.    There was nothing to clean up - it was like they were never there, except now I have a pool that looks brand new.

The price quoted was the final price.  They required no money up front.

The job took longer than expected (Monday to Monday) due to very heavy rain.  I recommend anyone doing this wait until the "dry season" in winter in Florida - water was a problem in several ways.

There were also complications caused by groundwater, because the pool is very near a pond on a golf course behind our house - they had to rig a pump to run 24/hrs to keep the groundwater from rising several feet into the pool. The two workmen were good, but since they had to keep stopping and the time of the job kept expanding, they weren't able to do finishing touches like cleaning the tile around the edges, which we did not replace.  A few odd black spots showed up that we have not been able to remove, but again these seem to have been caused by the weather and water complications.

I did a brief search of contractors to make some maintenance repairs to my fiberglass inground pool.  I ultimately contacted James from Action Pool primarily based on my review of their Angie's List page and service reviews.  After one call to James, I really felt comfortable that Action Pool was qualified to do this job.  James spent a long time talking to me, not only about the repairs needed, but also about some other questions I had about my pool.  James explained in detail what the job entailed and what work would need to be done.  His rough estimate of the job price seemed satisfactory to me.
I decided to hire Action Pool and scheduled the job a few days later.  They were actually able to start the work earlier than scheduled, which fit our schedule as well.  The technicians that arrived to perform the work were also very professional and thorough in their explanation of the work to be done, putting me at ease, just as James did.
Prior to the actual work beginning, I felt fairly confident in Action Pool's ability to do the job based on the communications I had with each of the staff.  However I emphasized to all of them, over the phone and in person, that my number one priority is that care is taken to properly drain the pool because I knew that the water table in our neighborhood was fairly high.  My highest concern was that the pool wasn't at risk for damage if the water table wasn't lowered properly prior to draining the pool.  I was assured by the Action Pool staff that they always take the necessary precautions and actions to ensure a pool can be safely drained.
Action Pool performed all of the work to repair the pool exactly as they promised.  They effectively pumped the ground water and took measurements as necessary to ensure the pool could be drained.  They drained the pool as needed.  When the pool was partially drained I was surprised at how stained the walls had become over the years.  I knew I had some staining and was actually ok with it for the most part - when filled the pool looked fairly good.  But when the pool was draining, those stains were really noticeable.  I mentioned to the technicians how it would be great to be able to take the opportunity to try and clean the stains while the pool was drained.
Well, when all the work was done, the technicians did all of the repairs I requested perfectly, they safely drained the pool, and....they even cleaned the pool for me while the pool was drained .  I truly can't express enough how satisfied I am with the end result.  The repairs are fantastic - perfectly blended in an unnoticeable.  And, the cleaning provided literally made my pool look brand new.
Action Pool performed all of the work they promised to my 100% satisfaction, they even went above and beyond what I expected, and made me feel comfortable and confident in their work before, during, and after the job.

We recently purchased a house with an in ground pool. We knew from the home inspection that the marcite finish was ancient and a mess and that it had been covered with several layers of pool paint that was peeling. In short, we needed to refinish the pool before it was ever going to be usable. We've never owned a pool before so after a lot of internet research and reading reviews on Angie's List, we called several companies to give us an estimate. We settled on Action Pools after meeting James and getting a bid that we thought was more than competitive. We were still not sure that fiberglass surfacing was the absolute way to go but we crossed our fingers and hoped for the best. So glad we did. James was great and responsive and even though the dates he had us scheduled for had to be understandably pushed back (It had been raining quite a bit for the two weeks prior), when his crew of two did arrive, they were quick, efficient and knocked out the work on schedule and with a minimum of mess and intrusion. More helpful though was that these weren't kids doing the work. Lee and his partner (I've forgotten his name unfortunately) have been in the pool business for 30+ years apiece and were great about helping me with additional info as to how my pool worked and giving me contact info for other reliable pool companies that would do such work as add a heat pump to my system--Action Pools only does resurfacing and repair work on surfaces. In short we couldn't have been happier.

I would recommend action pools to anyone who has a crack in their fiber glass pool. The owner James is very knowledgeable. They came out on time, got the work done when they said they would and I haven't had any issues since the work was done 7 months ago

Arrived as promised, performed the work as promised, and we are delighted with the results. The people that came to our home and did the work were pleasant and considerate and did a great job. I can highly recommend Action Pool. James, while I never met him, was outstanding to deal with by phone on several occasions.

James was very friendly and professional. We got a quote about 4 months before we were able to afford to do it. james honored that quote and he gave also us an Angie's list discount and we appreciated the help. They were able to start a 1/2 day early and that was fine with us. The pool is concrete but was refinished with fiberglass several years ago. James's crew were great in showing us and explaining what they were doing to the pool. Cracks were repaired, and old plastic decorative tiles were removed and things were cleaned up nicely. The finished product is beautiful and easy to maintain, and they were done in one day. We are very happy with the way things turned out and would do it all again!

The owner of Action Pools Inc., James Lambert, came to my house to look at our 12' x 24' pool and give me his professional opinion on what needed to be done. When he looked at my pool he told me the prior Fiber Tech coating was holding well to my pool surface and all he would have to do is fix the damaged spots on the pool surface, re-apply fiberglass resin and the pool would be new again and would last another 20 years or so. We also wanted to put new tile on the pool to give the pool a new appearance. James said the cost of this job would be $2949.00. Note, we had another company come out and they wanted to re-apply the entire Fiber Tech process to our pool for a substantial amount of money higher. I am glad I found out about Action Pool Inc and that we did not need the entire process done. James did advise that they would complete the work in 3 days or less, but rain was a big factor. Their work could not be performed in the rain. This was very understandable.
The job started on 8/22/13. I met the job foreman Lee who explained the full process to us step by step. Lee was very professional and I saw he was very meticulous with his work. Lee explained all of the work done on the pool would be done right the first time so he would not have to come back. Lee and his helper were always at the house each day when he said they would be. Lee would always answer any questions that we had.
The job was competed when Lee said it would be and I have to say the pool itself looked brand new. I would definately recommend Action Pool Inc. to anyone that wants an exceptional job done on their pool.
The next process will be to have the deck redone by Pool and Spa Creations, Inc., starting 9/3/13.

James was great to work with. While we were out of town he had an opening come available which was earlier than planned. He didn't require any payment until we returned to inspect the pool. It looks great. I highly recommend him.

It went very well. James and his crew were very honest and straight forward and did what they said they were going to do in regards to the resurfacing of the pool. The price was significantly less than my first two quotes so at first I was a bit skeptical but after talking through the process with James I knew this guy new his stuff as did his crew. The pool turned out great and we couldn't be more satisfied. I would definitely recommend Action Pool Inc.

I have had my pool/home for 18 yrs. A mar cite pool that I had fiber glassed and gel coated in 2004. Swore Id never do it again. A horrible experience. It started to stain immediately and went downhill for the next 9 years. I was going to take out the fiberglass and put in aggregate/pebble Tec. I had several quotes for the tear out of fiberglass and quot;expensiveand quot;, to a re-gel coat of the existing fiberglass. Spoke with James, owner of Action Pool. He was friendly and we got along well. He has been in the business for a long time and very knowledgeable. He knew of the fiberglass rip-off's of the past and assured me the process and gel coat has got much better. His quote was the best price by far. I wasn't afraid to pay more to and quot;gutand quot; the pool, but he convinced me that a new gel coat was the way to go. That's when I joined Angie's list and saw his reviews as well as the competitors'. His lead man Lee, has been in the business a long time and was very knowledgeable. He knows if there is a bad batch of gel coat made. He said he actually stopped a job temporarily to have the manufacturer reformulate the gel coat they bought. On day 1, they drained the pool. They said they wait a day after draining so the pool surface can dry out. They came back the next day on time. Taped off the tile, Sanded down the areas that were needed and patched area's of concern. Lee and his helper are hard workers and were able to tolerate my questions and presence. Then they rolled out the gel coat. A very generous amount. Then, filled the pool about an hour later. Now there is some controversy about this process, But it looked to be fine and cured. There is something in the gel coat that allows it to cure faster and the pool to be filled almost immediately. This happened with the first gel coat I had years ago and it smelled horrible for weeks. This time, the odor went away once the pool was filled. They cleaned up after themselves and left. James stop by a few days later to see the pool and pick up the check. He said it was so important to keep the alkalinity above 80ppm. I LOVE IT!!! The bottom is so easy on the feet! They did add a non skid surface on the steps. After adjusting the pool chemicals, with the help of James, It is beautiful and blue. I did switch to a salt system. A little pricey but well worth it IMO. The guys did A great job and would recommend them. James even gave me a great tip on how to keep my coping clean and offered to clean it at no charge. I did it myself. I've learned a lot about my pool in the last 18 yrs. I am very satisfied and believe this gel coat will last many years. Look, any coating you put on a pool is going to last around 10 yrs. Some a little more, some a little less. Pebble Tec probably lasts longer, but your standing on rocks. For the cost of pebble Tec though, I could get a new gel coat 3-4 times. Thanks James! Also, I waited 2 months to post this review.

James provided an estimate for resurfacing our fiberglass pool. He was very professional, pleasant, personable and honest. He told us we did not need new fiberglass, just a new gel coat which is about half the cost of a complete new fiberglass finish. His price was reasonable. He sent two workers to do the job who were also very professional, pleasant and honest. They were very particular about the quality. They took their time to do it right. They stopped early the first day because it was predicted to rain. They explained the effects of rain on the next step of pool prep. I really appreciated that. They could have hurried and I would not have known it would cause a problem for a few years but they treated us the way they would want to be treated. Very refreshing. I can't say enough about them.

The work was very professional. The pool techs were always prompt to show up when they said they would. They answered all my questions. Cleanup was completed every evening before they left for the day. We started the job on Tuesday. It was completed on Friday afternoon. We were in the pool Friday evening after putting in the necessary chemicals. After a week the pool looks beautiful. Despite the fiberglass being white, the pool appears to be a nice blue.
I took pictures of the before and after. What a difference it makes.

They were very thorough and responsive, told me everything that could be an issue and what was not an issue - there was very little wrong with the pool and filter systems but they checked everything and made me feel much more comfortable closing on the house. I would use them again in the future if I need to update my pool or pool deck area. They were great.

The men did a great job. You cannot tell there was ever a drain there, it looks just like the rest of the pool. The regrouting makes it look like a new pool. They cleaned up the entire area before they left. The price was exactly what James quoted. They will be the first ones we think of if we ever need further repairs.

The work started Sept.. 7 and was completed Sept 12. When I called Mr. Lambert on Aug. 29th, he told me he did not replace marcite pool finishes, but used fiberglass. He asked me to view his website explanation of the process complete with pictures. We viewed it and decided it was the way to go. He came out August 30 and gave us an estimate and we agreed to the work. The job started Sept.7th and was completed Sept 12th. The job was delayed two days during this period due to heavy rain storms. His crew was efficient and neat., kept the work area clean and were pleasant to work with.

James Lambert is very professional and knowledgeable about pools. He is easy to talk to and spent a great deal of time explaining and fixing our pool equipment. I highly recommend his company, Action Pool Inc.
