"This is standard checking, all native wood does this. It describes a crack in lumber caused by the outer part of the lumber drying faster and shrinking more than the inside of the lumber. Those small cracks are often referred to as "seasoning checks" and are a natural occurrence in lumber and cannot be stopped completely. There is no such thing as a fence that does not have checks. At any rate, we have never seen checks in fence panel be a problem with wind or the strength of the structure. We did come out and replace all concerns you had and have determined we will no longer be offering fence as one of our services. I am glad we were able to complete your project to your scarifications and my apologizes for any inconvenience."
