EVANS CUSTOM CABINETRY

Evans Custom Cabinetry gave me two quotes totaling $10,700, then they charged me $12,100. When they gave me the quotes they said the fee would include everything they built. Nothing was added to the job or changed after that. They never mentioned an increased charge at any time, and I received no revised or additional quote. The first hint I got about the $1,400 price increase was when they sent the final bill. I objected of course, and each of the two owners said they thought the other had quoted the additional charge, as if that should excuse "the confusion". Evans Custom Cabinetry also said it would take two weeks to finish the job. But look at the photos showing the condition of the cabinets SIXTEEN WEEKS later. As you can see, they were far from finished. You're looking at cracks in the toe kick, cracks in the front frame, drawer fronts leaning at an angle, pairs of doors set at different heights and doors and drawer fronts misaligned. Apparently that was good enough for Evans Custom Cabinetry, because that's how things stood when they sent their bill for final payment. I had to threaten to get another carpenter to finish the job and deduct his fee from their bill. That finally got one of Evans Custom Cabinetry's owners to come to my house to finish the installation. He ignored my greeting when I opened the door and walked past me like I wasn't there, giving me the silent treatment in my own home as if it was ME who had done something wrong. Then I had to listen to him yelling at his employee while they worked. I couldn't wait to get him out of my house, so when he claimed he was finished I paid him, including the extra $1400 he never quoted, just so he would leave. The cabinet drawer fronts are still not properly aligned, but I would rather hire another carpenter to fix the mess if that's what it takes to never have to deal with Evans Custom Cabinetry again.
