+ 0 moreIt was a daunting task made so much easier by having a builder with a team that was experienced in working seamlessly together. A million and one decisions to be made was truly taken one step at a time. The builders were able to take our ideas, add their input to improve each project and then to create it. We never felt our ideas and needs were lost in the process. The results were a joint effort with all their workers always looking to make everything even better. Both homes are amazing one of a kind personalities.
Description of Work: Elaine and her talented crew remodeled 2 historic 1800's homes for us. They are the best at this. Both houses were taken down to their studs, all original windows were refurbished & reused, all utilities were updated and every piece of original trim etc. was reused in the house. Long before "Green" became the in word, Elaine & Duke Darnold have preserved every scrap of original structures that could be found. They have long term associates whom they use for everything from plumbing & electrical to painting & finish work. Amazingly, all their subs are not only great at their jobs, but also polite & friendly at all times. Duke Darnold & his team of finish carpenters built one of a kind cabinets for the kitchens, baths, and living areas. Rehabing not only one, but two structures is beyond time consuming, anxiety provoking & full of surprises. You really need an excellent team who works WITH you to get the job done in order for you to be in love with the finished projects. Every man & woman who worked on these homes took pride in their work and often came back to see the results of their peer's contributions.
