First Class Home Inspections Review We recently had First Class Home Inspections out to do a private inspection for us as we were approaching our one year warranty on our new home. Jason was great to work with. He arrived timely and was ready to get to work. When Jason arrived he greeted us and let us know what to expect from his services both while he was onsite and off, as he would send a complete report when following up. He was very thorough and in fact found some items we needed to be discussed with our builder. He made sure he answered any questions we had regarding the inspection as well. Upon completion of our home inspection, he followed up timely with a detailed report of all of his findings. We especially liked that he documented well with photos in case we need to reference any areas in correlation to what was on the report. He also used the infrared technology during his inspection of our home without charging an additional fee as some companies do. We are very pleased with our experience with First Class Home Inspections and are happy we chose Jason to help us with our home inspection. If you are in need of a home inspection at a good price we highly recommend contacting First Class Home Inspections. They will be professional, friendly, timely, and thorough as they inspect your home as if it were their own.

Jason inspected a house I had under contract in June 2016. During inspection, I noticed a stain in the ceiling in the garage. I asked Jason about it and he said it was nothing to worry about, he looked for water but did not find evidence of water. I asked him where the stain could have come from. He said he did not know. He didn't include this in his final report. After I closed on the house, I noticed that some water was on the floor or on my yard waste trash can in the area where the stain was. The garage door wheel was there too, so I assumed maybe some water dripped from the garage door wheel after it rained. After hurricane Matthew, I saw A LOT of water in the ceiling and on the floor, and I knew then that there was an issue all along with that area of the roof. I emailed Jason recently to kindly ask him to refund me a portion or all of the inspection fee because he didn't identify there was a problem with the roof in that area. He said no because he did not miss it. I emailed my realtor and she contacted Jason and he continued to claim he did not miss the issue. I had 3 roofers at my house this week to get estimates for repairs and I told them the story. All 3 roofers gave me a look of disbelief that the inspector told me it "wasn't anything to worry about". They said if there is a stain there, there is a problem with the roof. Jason has continued to refuse to refund me any of my inspection fee, and I told him that I trusted him, and if he had told me I might want to have a roofer out to look at it I WOULD HAVE HIRED A ROOFER TO LOOK AT IT. I just took his word that there wasn't an issue. He is not professional because he won't own up to his mistake and help me out in some way with these repairs. Please do not trust him. If you have a concern during inspection, GET A SECOND OPINION.
Response from 1st Class Home Inspections Plus
"This customer was unfortunately hit hard by Hurricane Matthew and I feel for her and everyone affected. I had a roof leak myself and I totally understand the frustration. This customer admitted to me (and others) in writing that the leak was caused by the Hurricane and there was no complaint until then, 5 months after the home inspection which was on May 17th 2016. The stain mentioned registered dry at the time of the inspection. I checked thoroughly and the wood roof decking above that area did not have any staining or indication that there ever was a leak and the area registered dry with a moisture meter at the time of the inspection. I also explained that this square-shaped stain on the garage ceiling could have been caused by a storage item above in the attic. But if a stain is dry at the time of the inspection it is not an active leak. The roofers she mentioned were looking at the roof 5 months after I did, and after 2 major hurricanes hit our area within weeks of each other (Hurricane Hermine and Hurricane Matthew, massive hurricanes). The roofers were not looking at the same situation I was. She sent pictures of her leak right after Hurricane Matthew and it is not even in the same spot as the old stain, it is clearly a new, fresh leak. Hurricanes are known for causing roof leaks and these things can never be predicted. All that being said, because of many other deficiencies I found on her roof, I DID recommend in writing further evaluation/repairs (a second opinion) of her roof by a certified roofing expert (referred to on pages 3 & 10 and also repeated again in the summary of her inspection report) which she did not elect to do until after the Hurricanes caused the leak."

Jason was on time and got straight to work...and there was a lot of work to be done. Jason inspected the entire home, inside, outside, attic and roof. He took lots of pictures noting problem areas. Once he had completed the inspection, he used a meter to detect if there was any moisture in the walls. When he was done, he and quot;walkedand quot; me through the pictures as well as the home to show me the problem areas. Jason could not have been more polite and professional.
To top everything off. I had a 56 page report e-mailed to me that evening! Less than a 5 hour turn around!
Jason did a great job and I would recommend him to family and friends.

I needed this inspection for insurance reasons. Checked all over internet for inspectors. Wanted someone licensed. Talked to a number of inspection services. Jason had several licenses. He has a background in construction and contracting for homes and appears to have had a number of years in the business before going in to home inspections.
I talked to him and checked out his website (www.1stClassHomeInspectionsPlus.com), and hired him for this specific inspection.
He showed up on time, explained everything he was going to do, was thorough, filled out all necessary forms, and the insurance company had the report within 24 hours with pictures and explanations. He was reasonably priced, personable, and knowledgable.
I would hire him again for any home inspection.
