Unfortunately, when I arrived at the house an hour later, my garden hose in the back yard, which I had used the evening before and was in good condition then, was leaking badly and clearly damaged - the male end connecting to the sprayer had obviously been bent with a wrench while taking it apart, and fresh metal marks were visible (later, when taking off the sprayer, it would become obvious that a second wrench had been used to force the sprayer back onto the misshapen hose - it took several hard turns of my wrenches just to get the sprayer off). Having tested the pump myself the day before, I knew that it would need to be primed (run water into it) whenever the pressure switch was fixed, so it made perfect sense - the tech had obviously tried to remove my sprayer from the hose to prime the pump, and ruined the hose end.
Upon calling the tech, he denied all of the above. Now, the only other people at that property that morning were my landlord and a potential tenant he was showing the place to, and this family home resides in a very nice neighborhood. It's extremely hard to imagine a random individual running up with two wrenches to remove the sprayer and then attempt to reattach it. So my next step is to call the East Coast Wells office and explain the situation, letting them know that I wanted to file an official complaint. Their response was that since I couldn't prove it, it didn't happen (basically "Why are you calling us?"), then to get me off the phone as soon as possible. There was no attempt to rectify anything, no "We'll have a talk with him about it", nothing to appease a very upset customer (at the time, I was thinking I'd need to buy a new hose, but have since learned you can attach a retrofit male end).
So my issues are 1. that this company with professional-grade pricing doesn't provide first-rate customer service, and 2. a likely dishonest employee. Both cause for dismissal and a search for a company that cares more about the customer than his $$.
"Mr. [Member name] I am David Swindull. I am President of East Coast Wells And Pump. I am the person you spoke to on the phone. I am very sorry for your feelings about our recent service provided to you. Our service person who handled your call was Dale. He is a very honest person and a great employee. I truly trust everything he does for our company and the customers he services. When you called you told me that you just wanted to go on record about your hose end being damaged, in case it happened to other customers. I asked you if you confronted Dale with the question of if he damaged your hose. He responded that he did not use the hose or even try to. I back my employees 100 percent when it becomes a question of integrity. What I am sorry for is not offering to replace your hose and circumventing this whole situation. That would have been the professional thing to do. So , please except my apoligies for the situation. I will gladly replace your hose. Thanks David."
