About us

The resort was created back in the early 1960's by a family that moved down here from Massachussets. The name Sheldegren comes from the farm that the family owned which bordered three cities - Shelbourne, Deerfield and Greenfield. We purchased the resort in 2003 and proceeded to renovate every section. The owners both grew up with all kinds of animals. They raised & bred German Shepherds and had a mini farm with horses, chickens, cats, dogs, and many others. Both have a great love of all animals.

Our dog loves the caretakers as well as the activities. He's also been washed and had a flea dip. They provide excellent service and my husband and I highly recommend them.

My pup loves going to daycare here! I have not toured the facilities myself but they take lots of pictures of the dogs playing most every day and can tell from the room they're in that it is spacious to rest or play. Plus they have outdoor areas for the dogs (separated for small and bigger dogs) to run, play, and even have a little wading pool area. The only downside is my pup comes home dirty and smelly sometimes from romping around other wet dogs, but he is a dog and certainly don't blame Sheldegren for that! It looks like some of the facility is worn by the dogs and needs to be updated and cleaned but again, nothing that would keep me from continuing to take my pup there. They give my pup lots of love and he's gained the adoration of a few caretakers. What more could a pet parent ask for?
Also, I had his nails filed/ground down there and it's $10 cheaper than Petco (where I usually have it done) and they did a good job (again, better than Petco). Plus they do it while he's at daycare, so no extra trip for me!

I started using them approx. 4 years ago. My family also uses them. They are a very established company and there is someone on the premises at all times. They screen the animals that get to stay there and don't take a whole lot of pets at one time. I'm not particularly a fan of large boarding kennels. I feel like you get more personal attention here. Their hours are convenient and they're reasonable priced compared to most places. It's about $17/day. I've never used it, but they also offer grooming services.
