"Sorry you found your experience with Viking Fence and Deck unsatisfactory. We wish you would have left a more detailed review so that we can address the issues you had with us."
"With 650 calls in the month after the hurricane and one salesman we had a hard time keeping up. Sorry we could not do the job for you but we are a high quality low volume company. I have seen a lot of tension in my 37yrs in business after hurricanes we do our best to serve all and we also get jobs just like the company you picked."
First of all, the deck guys were great. We dealt with Rick for the deck. He was great to deal with. He gave us our estimate, and kept in touch with us up until the install date when he came out with 2 other guys to tear out our old deck and put the new one in. He told us it would take 2-3 days, and it took about 2 and a half days, They seemed to do it in stages. They removed all of the old deck first. Then they lay the support for the new deck. Finally they lay the deck pieces. It looks beautiful. When they were finished Rick gave us information on how to take care of the deck. The guys were very professional and easy to deal with.
After the deck was put in, we had a section of our fence replaced that had been falling apart for the last couple years. We dealt with Dana to get an estimate. I cannot remember the name of the guys who came out to do the work, but they were great. Viking worked with us to move the gate from the front of the yard to behind the front door. The new fence looks amazing and we are very proud of it. It changes the way the way the front of the house looks.
I only have one complaint about working with Viking. We found the lack of communication on the Fence side frustrating. It seemed like we always had to call to find out what was going on. I would still recommend this company to friends and family, but I would make sure that they are prepared for possible communication issues.
Overall, I love walking out onto the new deck. It makes the backyard a wonderful place again. I also love pulling up to my house and seeing not only the beautiful new fence, but more of the front of the house instead of just a gate.
"The fence part of the business handles much more volume then decks but I am still working to make sure they respond quickly they just get over loaded."
Approximately 150 square feet of old wooden decking boards and ground level support framing was removed and the area was re-graded and leveled. New support posts and framing was build and installed. New decking boards were than installed on top of the framing.
The job started on time as scheduled. Rick estimated 1-2 days to complete; the job took 1.5 days. The crew showed up on time and cleaned up the work are when complete. The new walkway/decking came out great. Rick also replaced two 6 foot long pergola bench boards at no additional cost which also look great. Rick was also very responsive with job start time and providing job status. There were no issues with miscommunication or schedule; the job when very smooth.
"That installer does not work for me any more He stole from me and my customers and went on to start his own business. I think he did things like this to make us look bad. Had I known sooner about the issues I would have rectified them at once. The Lubinas were great customers and I am sorry I gave that installer that job."
The PVC fence also has some damage and since it has a lifetime warranty, should be repaired by Viking. They refuse to honor the warranty as well. Rick, the owner has made every excuse in the book regarding why this isn't their concern and hasn't done anything to try to resolve this issue of their poorly installed work. They ignore phone calls and make you "track" them down instead of calling you back. Rick would rather me "go away" vs. him honoring his work. Viking does not deserve to be in business if this is how they treat customers.
Rick and Viking Fence should not be trusted. If you need any work done, I would chose ANYONE else on Angie's List! I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and plan to take Viking to small claims court as I've tried for 2 weeks to settle this peacefully, but only have gotten the run around.
"This gentleman was not our customer Adams Homes hired us and was more than pleased with the job. The gentleman moved in later and decided our fence was to short to pass pool code. There was no pool when we installed the fence and 48" vinyl fence stands at 44" at the top rail this is industry standard but will not pass pool code. This gentleman was abusive and rude to both me and my office manager demanding we replace the fence. All or jobs were permitted and inspected the job was so old the city had no record. I stand still willing to help him out."
