The job was terrible. The painter unilaterally decided that the ceilings looked fine; did not paint them even though it was included in his bid; and did not discuss it with me even though I specifically requested that the ceilings be painted. There was a light fixture removed from the kitchen ceiling and the mark from the light was still visible on the ceiling. There were marks all over the walls that should have been sanded and repaired prior to painting. We are/were having hardwood flooring installed so the floors were bare concrete when the painting was done. The contractor doing the floors had removed the carpeting and cleaned the floors in preparation for the installation of the hardwood floors. The painter left the floors in a mess. The owner of the painting company contacted my flooring contractor and told him he would pay him to clean the floors again. Now he has refused to pay for the cleanup. There is a plant shelf between the great room and the living room. The top of the plant shelf was not painted and you could write your name in the dust. There were spots where there was on over spray which caused runs down the walls. There were spots in the master bedroom near the vaulted ceiling which appeared to have very little paint and looked yellowish. There were marks all over the door trim in some rooms which weren't painted all. Painting the trim was also included n the bid. I was told by another painting contractor that the paint used was very cheap and not of good quality. The house has to be completely repainted.
The painter sprayed the shelves in the closets and pantry instead of taking them down. The painter states that the shelving was already previously sprayed. That is not true. I paid a partial payment of $1,500.00 which the owner is refusing to refund. I agreed for him to keep $500.00 but requested $1,000.00 back, which he refused.
I would never recommend this company to anyone.
"The job for Mrs. [Member Name Removed] home was quoted out at $3200.00 for the following services only: install trim and interior paint to include walls, trim and ceiling. A deposit to begin work was sent to me in the amount of $1500.00. The home was vacant so we started began work after the floor contractor had pulled the carpet. My associate begin work on the home and completed most of the job with the exception of wall patches, which was an add-on. When he completed the wall painting, I had yet to visit the home to perform a final wall inspection of his work. Mrs. John’s called me on a Thursday and said she was coming down to take a look at the home and the next call was on a Monday before work to tell me my services were no longer needed. We value our reputation and we pride ourselves on doing a job right, but this job was not completed. I asked her to meet me at the home to go over any concerns she had and see for myself what could have upset her. She opted to send me pictures that her floor contractor took depicting trash and construction debris left on the floor. We did not see this an issue because 1. the floor looked no different than when we started - needed to be lightly scraped and vacuumed as debris from base trim removal, padding and glue were still present, we did not think the floor contractor had truly finished his job, 2. we weren’t finished with the job. When she first told me of the floor, I did offer to pay because we do the right thing however, what I saw in the floor pictures was really no different than what was already there. There were mistakes and missing an elevated is inexcusable, but as I have stated - the work was not completed yet. I would have caught and corrected any problems on Monday morning. I tried to convey to her that I was would be onsite to finish and complete any work to her satisfaction however she only wanted her money back and she threatened to bash me on Angie's List. At first, I said yes - who wants a bad review, but after I looked at the man hours and supplies, it was not economically feasible. The interior walls were painted, 400 ft. of trim was painted prior to installation and Sherwin Williams ZeroVOC Pormar 200 paint was used. This was a $3200.00 project; all materials were purchased and used and 36 man hours utilized when she decided my services were no required. Please look at my website to see the quality of work we perform, if anyone has any doubts, references are available. I do not like having a unhappy customer but I understand you can’t please everyone. Sincerely Jon Sullins, Owner [hyperlink removed]"
