ABC TV & VIDEO SALES & SVC

The TV screen refused to stay on for more than 30 seconds at a time. So I started by calling the repair service of the store where we bought the TV; they couldn't come out for 6 days. I didn't have any TV repair references so I joined Angie's list specifically for this repair. Called a service on the list that had a decent review (though it was their only review); they couldn't come out for 5 days. They did however recommend calling ABC because they had several repair technicians and would likely be able to come out faster although, in his opinion, "they would probably be more expensive" than the quote he gave me. ABC was extrememly polite and helpful on the phone. They told me it sounded like the color wheel was bad (first place didn't even hazard a guess, second place said the same thing) and gave me a cursory quote that was lower than either of the other two places, although they made sure to let me know that it was little more than a guess until they could check the TV out and be sure that the color wheel was actually the problem. They made an appointment with me for the next day. The technician was on time, polite, and professional. He spoke with me about what had been happening with the TV and then took a look inside and confirmed that it was indeed the color wheel. He put a new one in. The cost of the service ended up being very close to the cursory quote. The technicial also asked me about the lamp we had replaced in the TV when we first started having problems (it's what the user guide told us to do). He told me that the lamp was a Chinese knockoff and he had seen a lot of issues with them but he also made a point to tell me that this one seemed to be working fine; just to be careful next time we bought one. I was very happy with my experience from beginning to end.
