As usual the interaction with Alafia Computer was seamless. Providing a little background: Eight years ago, after having one of the brand name computer shops ruin my laptop, Alafia Computers was referred to me. Eric set up my replacement computer, and captured much information believed lost. He has done many updates, backups and fixes to problems I’ve caused through the years. I cannot stress enough how pleased I have been with his services. It is truly refreshing to find a business as knowledgeable and professional as Alafia Computers. I HIGHLY recommend this company.

I took the computer to Alafia Computer repair and explained the problem. Eric advised that the machine was old and should be replaced. I told him that I did not want to do that and asked that he repair this one. I left the computer there and Eric installed a new solid state hard drive and cleaned up the machine. He was able to retrieve all the programs and data from the old hard drive so the machine looked and worked exactly as before only much faster on start up with the solid state hard drive. I have used Alafia Computer Repair on several occasions before and found Eric to be completely honest and trustworthy. Several times I have just dropped in to ask a question and always received an answer free of charge. This time he said that he would call with an estimate and I told him that would not be necessary since I trust him completely.

Got a call the next day telling me he was having a problem loading the windows 10. After loading when he tried to boot up it would crash. He said he would do a little research and see if he could find the problem, but if he could not, asked if it would be alright to leave it on windows 7. I told him that would be fine. Called back late the next day and said that he could get it to boot with 7 but that the problem was the video card. That Windows 10 is crashing because it was bad and 10's graphics on start up are much more intensive. Told me that to replace it would cost more than the machine was worth ( if he could find the part as machine was almost 8 years old), even before new hard drive. When I went to store to pay and pick up the machine and info that was on hard drive, Eric had recovered all data off hard drive and give me the computer and it. When I asked how much he said he could not fix it so no charge. ( I had brought another computer to work on.) Which he cleaned up and installed windows 10 and the windows office using license he had recovered from laptop. Friendly honest and knowledgeable, everythin you want on someone working on your computer problems.

It went great. The computer was not working at all and it looked like the damage was catastrophic. He diagnosed the problem to be a couple of relatively small items and the price was super reasonable. Given the apparent gravity of my problem a dishonest person could have held be up for a fortune...but they did not. Extremely fair and honest.
Also, I had shopped at least five of six of their competitors before I left my computer with them .. They were by far the best in the area.

It is great. He finds out what you do and what you need. He only puts in there what you need. He doesn't put stuff in there you won't use. That keeps the price down. It's great. Lot of memory and a lot of RAM. He's a good guy. We've been using him for years. It took him about 2 days to build the computer.

I am not technologically able to remove these annoying invaders, therefore, I needed help. The service was very good and I felt comfortable leaving my net book with them to repair.

They kept saying that the part they needed was on back order or that they got the wrong part. It took them three weeks to get my computer back to me, and they just told me it was basically totaled.

"Customer, Clearly you did not understand what transpired, as your comments are not at all accurate. Allow me to post the contents of your invoice for all to see... Your laptop was dismantled to replace what appeared to be a broken charging jack. Upon replacement, the symptom did not change. The day that the replacement jack came, someone else brought in an identical computer for a virus removal. I took their battery and connected it to your laptop; it still did not power on. At this point, the motherboard had to be what failed. A replacement motherboard is over $200 my cost. I looked on eBay to see if there were any alternatives there...what I found were over 20 bad motherboards for sale. Clearly this is a common issue with this model. Given the cost of replacing the machine and the cost of the repair, fixing it was not a good option. I saved the data as you requested and authorized, but the quantity of data makes it unfeasible to burn to DVD's. 18.1GB of data is awaiting a source large enough to store it, whether it be a large flash drive (32GB), and external hard drive, or another computer. After telling the customer that his data was saved to my bench computer, it became obvious he was not comfortable with that arrangement. If he wants the data transferred, another $40 charge will be applied at that time. If he doesn't, I will delete it today and no further charges will apply."

Discovered the jack for a laptop power connection had broken and slipped inside. Found this company on Angie and called. Dropped off the laptop with a firm estimate of either $60 or $130 dollars depending on the type of internal connection. The next day it was repaired and ready to pick up at the lower price. They are VERY knowledgeable and provided great service. We'd just had a horrible and very expensive experience having a bad virus removed. Too bad we didn't check Angies List first. We will most definitely be using them in Alafia Computers again.

Eric was on time and worked diligently to get rid of the virus on my computer. It took approximately one hour. Everything was fine until later in the evening and part of the virus reappeared. Eric came right back out the next day and took care of it within a few minutes. He did not charge me for coming to my home a second time. I will definitely use him again. He was very pleasant and professional.

Problem was the equipment. The speaker cord isn't the correct one but he connected the speakers on my monitor so I have sound. The all in one printer is not working correctly and the fax machine can't be fixed but he diagnosed the problems for me.

ERIC WAS ON TIME, PLEASANT, SEEMED KNOWLEDGEABLE, WILLING TO ANSWER QUESTIONS. I CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MY COMPUTER, I CALLED BACK AT LEAST 2-3 TIMES, GOT OWNER, NOT ERIC. OWNER DID NOT SEEM TO REALLY WANT TO HELP ME WITH FOLLOWUP PROBLEMS, JUST TOLD ME OVER PHONE TO DO THIS OR THAT IN BRIEF CONVERSATION, ALTHOUGH HE DID TELL ME TO CALL BACK, I DID NOT FEEL THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO GET ANY REAL ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE.
