Legend Construction (LC) installed the flooring in our townhouse. They were polite, trustworthy and paid attention to details. We were so happy with their work and pricing that we hired them to install the flooring in our new home. LC went above and beyond our expectations. We recently contacted them for a third project. We recommend to everyone without hesitation.

Dan Sternberg, the owner, hit my dog very hard. One of the cabinet company's son's had been playing with my dog in the yard. Dan came out and my dog went back to the boy to play more, then Dan hit him hard. I did not appreciate that at all. Legend Construction did not complete the work we had agreed upon. When Dan and I originally talked he stated he could complete the kitchen remodel, flooring work, and concrete driveway work for no more than $15,000. The work was to start in April 2015. The project moved slowly until about October 2015, at which time none of the three projects were completed as agreed. This is their status as of today, 2/19/16. 1. They poured the driveway but it has yet to pass inspection because there isn't proper erosion prevention work done along the sides of it. The concern is water can infultrate under the concrete, compromising the structural integrity. The concrete is also not sealed. 2. The flooring work has never been started. 3. They worked quite a bit on the kitchen but eventually started coming to me asking for more money before they would complete any more work, saying they keep running over budget. Dan never presented an official contract to me. I encourage anyone else who might use Legend to have Dan provide such a contract at the beginning. I told Dan at the beginning that $15,000 was my maximum budget. I have paid him about $11,000 thus far. I refuse to pay him any more money because he can't guarantee he will complete the work as originally agreed if I were to pay him the $4,000 difference. Dan knows my mother and was consistently calling her saying all the work was done and I needed to pay him more money to settle things. I ended up taking pictures of the uncompleted work to my mother and she agreed the work was not done.

"Not true. During demo we found some big mold problems that needed remediation. Then, you upgraded your cabinet & other choices, way different from what we planned on by a long shot, and exceeded the budget we had originally discussed. You knew that the flooring in the bedrooms wasn't going to get done because of said changes. Then there’s the fact that there were biohazards because of your dog...( I have pictures to prove it). You knew that your costs were overrunning your budget and that you wouldn't be able to pay me, but didn't tell me that. & you let me keep working, & trusting you. You paid me 10k, which didn't even cover MY cost of your new cabinets and driveway, let alone all the framing, electrical, drywall replacement, painting, new lighting, trim, soffit & a/c work that was already finished. Your job wasn’t finished (unless you found another sucker to trust you) because you still owed something like 6k, for work ALREADY COMPLETED. That was out of my pocket, as I still paid my subs, (the electricians, cabinet makers, and concrete guys...who never agreed to seal your new driveway). Meanwhile you bought a new car. Your dog? I love dogs. Mine just behave better. I asked you many times to keep him away from me and my guys, and keep him out of the work area... I didn't hit him, I pushed him to the ground (inside the house, not in the yard as you claim) And now you throw me under the bus with this review? I wish I could post pictures of your project, I have a lot. Edit: Your mother & brother paid your bill. Both very good friends of mine. She asked me not to tell you, she was hoping you'd stand up and be responsible for yourself, and she didn't want you to know she bailed you out yet again. I was to pay her back in secret when you finally paid me. Why would she do that if she didn't agree the debt was legitimate? It’s pretty clear your check isn’t coming, after all this time, (3 yrs?) So now in response to this nasty review I have no choice but to be truthful."

Dan installed tile and baseboard throughout my entire living area, kitchen, dining, and 3 bedrooms. Amazing attention to detail and incredibly responsive. He also made sure to explain all possible options and limitations. My subfloors had major flaws and he dealt with it like a true professional. I had special requests for a design in the dining area and foyer...his craftsmanship was superb! I couldn't be happier with the result. Dan far exceeded my expectations and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for any project.

Knowing that I was recently home from the hospital after hip replacement, within a day of being called, Dan purchased and installed grab bars in the shower and by the toilet, so that I was able to comfortably perform necessary and daily tasks. As I said in my description of tasks performed, Dan is our go-to guy for all of our home needs!

Work was high quality. Dan was careful when installing and shimming up an attic staircase. Was tenacious on the job. No goofing off. A non-smoker. No smoking breaks. Will probably call Dan first if I ever need something done in the future.

He's very professional and it always on time. His pricing is fair based on the work that you are expecting. He will provide a sketch to make sure you're both on the same page for the project.
