We then adopted a boxer mix (Sam) from Coastal Boxer Rescue, our contact there said she has been taking her pets to Dr. Kelly since he opened his practice. Our boxer boy had sufferred a foreleg fracture before getting rescued, and he was on a complicated regimen of medications and injections. We took all this to Dr Kelly, with our boisterous Sam, roughly 50 lbs. Not wanting to pick up a large dog, Dr. Kelly sat cross-legged on the floor, and Sam went right over and threw himself into Dr Kelly's lap, paws in the air (what a goof!) Dr Kelly took it in stride. Sam's leg fracture had healed quite well, Dr. Kelly did not believe he needed all that medication (steroid injections, pain medication, and an anti-inflammatory. We stopped those medications, and started Sam on Dasuquin a non-prescription chewable tab. Now, 6 months later Sam is doing great, no limping or favoring the leg, he goes for 1/2 mile walks without a problem.
We were so impressed with Dasuquin we added it to our 12 yr old's labs regimen as well (she damaged both knees walking up and down the icy stairs of our former home in PA). Our lab was already taking Rimadyl, and it did help her joint pain. Adding the Dasuquin made her more spry, she clearly enjoys walks now, she goes further without limping, sometimes she even runs in the back yard!
Dr. Kelly takes care of all three of our pets, the lab has had her teeth cleaned, she came home in 3 hours, and was perfectly fine! No grogginess, no lack of coordination. She was very happy.
"The dog in question had been ill for some time. We require a doctor consult before we agree to euthanizing a pet. Euthanasia is a 2 way decision. The owner may request it, I have to agree that it is justifiable. During the exam, I asked what was their dog doing now that brought them to the decision to euthanize. They explained she was vomiting, had diarrhea, was inappetant and incontinent. I agreed that she no longer had quality of life and the decision to euthanize was a correct one. The fact that we insist on a medical exam and consult prior to a euthanasia and ask questions pertaining to the dog's presenting complaints does not mean we don't know what the dog's prior history is. The comment from our ex client is unfair and untrue."
"(Removed members name) is incorrect on her statement. I did not sell her flea prevention that was contra indicated for her dog's heart condition. She came in and purchased Certifect from us for flea control. She implied that I sold her the product knowing her dog's condition. I was not involved in the transaction at all, but the staff did nothing inappropriate in selling her the flea prevention. The warning label label says : Do not use on sick (e.g. systemic diseases, diabetes, fever) or convalescent animals. There is absolutely nothing on the label that says do not use on dogs with a history of heart issues. She read into the label something that was not there. This review was also written a year after we last saw her dog as a patient. Neither of those pertained to the dog in question. (Removed members name) left us because we would not sell her heartworm prevention until her dog was tested for heartworm which was due in a couple of months. She wanted us to bend the rules because she is a physician. The staff implemented policy which I instituted and is meant for quality control and our patients well being"
Everything was clean and the staff was very professional and quite thorough.
After all the information was verified we went in with the tech to go over the history and the reason for our visit.
When the doctor came in she was very kind and obviously cares for the animals she treats.
She was informative about the changes the new area will have on our pets and took the time to go over things.
We did not feel rushed and were very happy with the entire experience.
We could not ask for a better place to entrust with the care of our two best friends. Have 100% confidence in the folks at Kelly's.
