UPDATE 3-21-16
On December 25th, I put out compost manure and seeded my yard with Bermuda and rye grass. We had an unseasonably warm December so in only a few weeks I had grass growing and now have a beautiful lawn for approximately $250.00 instead of "upward of $2,000.00. When you have ambitious young people that work hard (which is a good thing), then feel like they can price gouge you because you are an elderly female then that is just wrong. If I could post a picture of my lawn here as proof, I would-Before and after pictures, but I don't see how to do that.
"When Mrs. [Member Name Removed] approached me about having some tree work done, she showed me exactly what she wanted down and I explained that I was a about 4 weeks out. She insisted on us doing the work and explained that she was not in a hurry to get it done. I put her job on the schedule and told her I would be there around the second week of December. Unfortunately my crew ran into a few problems on other jobs and we had some rain delays, I apologize for not calling when the delays arouse. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] contacted me through text message on Dec. 14 and the job was completed on Dec. 16. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] has always contacted me directly either by calling or text message. When she messaged me through Angie's list I was out of town and I was unable to respond as quickly. When a problem arises customers call me directly and I am able to quickly correct the situation. I communicate with all my customers directly and if I unable to answer my phone, I do my best to return the call within the hour. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] hired us to maintain her lawn (which was mostly weeds and different types of grasses). Her yard was always the main focus in our discussions. She was interested in aerating her lawn and eventually putting down seed. I did not recommend doing this because of the sand, I but I told her that I would talk to a few specialist. I took multiple pictures of her yard and talk to three different companies. The responses I received were very similar, it would not aerate properly because of the sand. Sand does not contain the nutrients and the chemical compounds necessary for maintaining a healthy lawn. When I talked to Mrs. [Member Name Removed] about it she asked me for an estimate, I explained to her that it would be costly, because we would need to remove several inches of the sand and bring in topsoil. Then it would take about 7 pallets of sod, which included pickup, delivery and installation. I said it would upwards of $2000.00 dollars and she was not able to budget this particular job. When the season changed the weeds in her yard began to die, we knocked on her door and asked what she would like us to do. She asked if we could trim her hedges to accommodate for not cutting the yard. When the yard became mostly sand, she wanted to suspend her services (unfortunately we are unable to suspend accounts). The bill that was sent in December was an honest mistake. I currently service properties from New Smyrna to Ormond Beach and had two [Member Name Removed] customers and the wrong [Member Name Removed] was billed. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] said " I guess since I didn't do it his way, he doesn't want to help." , which is not how I operate. I will give my opinion to a customer and no matter what they decide I will do it for them. I don't want to see customers spend money on something that may not work."
How did it go? Never got a chance to find out.
NOTE: So as not to confuse readers...I have not changed my original written response. PLEASE read down to John's response to my original misguided review. John's response is accurate. I jumped the gun and should have waited to write this review. Lesson learned for this old lady. Then please read my second review. I have changed the scores. I did apologize for my first review and hope that we will have a long working relationship.
"this is not what had happened i told her that i plan on being there between 9;30 or 10;00 and that i would also call her about 15 mins before i got to her house on Monday July 20th. we the rain that we have been having has got the schedule behind. gps data log in my truck shows that i got to her house at 11:53 on monday mid morning at which time i met both husband and wife we walked there property together. Donna had many questions which i answered and also referred other company's for other work that she wished to have done. we agreed on a price of 30 dollars a month which includes 7 visits a year. which she felt was more than reasonable. she asked when i could start and i told her that i plan on having her taken care of that week but again with the afternoon showers and an add on in the beginning of the week i just couldn't make it happen. but she is on the active schedule for the week of the the 27th. during that time i assure she will be taken care of. after reviewing my Angie list account this weekend i seen this review which i called her immediately at which time she apologized and said she jumped the gun for writing the review so quick."
