We used Ivy League because the owner, Nick Clark has a degree in Architectural Landscape from Purdue. His education and experience showed during the entire process. We spent several months discussing options, choosing flora, and exploring layouts. Nick took everything into consideration including some problems we were having with drainage. He gave us architectural drawings, drove us around to other properties so we could envision different ideas, wrote up estimates, did presentations to and got permissions from the HOA (a big hurdle in my neighborhood) and got the permits needed by the county. The prep work for a decent landscape project takes significantly longer than the actual installation. Installation took about a week. Nick and his crew descended on us with all kinds of specialized equipment from front loaders to cherry pickers and got to work. He removed about 19 old palm trees (down to the roots-no stumps), removed bushes and other flora we didn't want. He also left standing and undamaged several trees and palms we did want, solved all the drainage problems by installing at least four separate underground drainage systems. When all that was done he installed new flora, put down crushed rock, and arranged for new curbing to be installed around the entire house . It was a work of art. I am not a flower guy and usually don't notice landscaping but this was just beautiful. As an added bonus, about a month after the installation the Garden Club noticed Nick's work and gave our house an award for the landscaping. Ivy League guaranteed all of it for a year. It's been well over a year now and nothing has needed replacement. The original estimate was $19,500 but we were cautioned that some stuff like the crushed rock could run more because we'd want more. The final bill was $20,713. All of the overage was due to needing more materials and was listed as a potential price increaser in the original estimate. The payments were 1/3 to start, 1/3 on substantial completion, and 1/3 on final acceptance. Standard terms in my experience and very reasonable given the amount of pre-installation work Ivy League had to invest in the project before they could bill. I see somebody has given these guys an F. I don't know what happened there, maybe expectations exceeded reality, but my experience is that if you have a landscaping project then you really should consider Ivy League before you commit somewhere else. If you're looking for the lowest price possible, well good luck. My read on it was that Ivy League's price was reasonable for the value given and they were professional from start to finish.
