I met Air Link Mechanical through my home warranty company after my 20-year old AC stopped working. I initially had another company try to fix the problem without going through the home warranty, and they replaced the line feeds before finding a leak somewhere in the air handler, which they couldn't fix. At that point I filed a claim with the home warranty company, who referred it to ALM. ALM is a small family owned business, and the initial visit was made by owner Dave's 2 sons, who found a leak in the coil of the air handler. After talking with Dave I decided to have the air handler replaced rather than repaired, which necessitated also replacing the condenser to be compatible with the freon type used nowadays as opposed to 20 years ago. As I mentioned, the line feeds had recently been replaced so in total I needed a new air handler, new condenser, an upgrade to my breaker box, all with installation. Things could not have gone better. Dave patiently advised me on what I needed and I took his advice. His wife Diane worked with the home warranty company to settle the claim (they wanted to repair, not replace), which reimbursed me for the cost of the repair and partially offset the cost of the replacement. Dave showed up on time with an assistant, and took about 4 hours to complete the installation. Diane worked with Flagler County to schedule the permit inspection 6 days later, and when the inspector left he said "They did a really nice job." He's right, they did, and not only that but they were great to work with. When you call you usually get Diane, and the 2 times I needed to talk to Dave he called right away. They gave me the kind of service that only a small company can give, and it was obvious that Diane and Dave talked so that telling something to one of them was like telling both. Personally, I like supporting small businesses, and especially liked supporting this small family-owned business that employs the husband, wife, and at least 2 sons. Based on both the work they did and the service and responsiveness, I have no qualms about recommending them highly. Regarding the cost of the service: I did not get competitive bids, so my "A" for that category is an impression. The cost of service that I listed does not include the cost to replace the line feeds, for which I paid my former HVAC guys before I met ALM, and also does not include the credit from the home warranty company. Once those factors are accounted for, the estimate for the whole shebang was right in line with what several neighbors had paid for similar new systems including new line feeds, and was therefore right in line with what I'd expected to pay.
