I interviewed and solicited bids from 4-5 different companies. After evaluating all, I decided to hire John Ricker from Trademark because they offered a good product at a competitive price, and I liked John and felt he was a straight shooter. We went back and forth as to what I actually wanted, and we decided a 13k boat list would be best. I signed the sales contract, gave them a down payment, and was told the permitting process takes up to 4 weeks. 4 weeks later I called John and left a message for him, just to check on the progress, a few days later he called back and said that they would be here to install the lift on Monday, October 14. By noon no one showed up, and later that day I left a message for John. The following day Rick, who works with John said that the barge-a piece of equipment needed to install pilings-was being moved from another location. A day later, after still not hearing from John, I left another message. That call was returned and I was informed the barge was, quote, ?on it?s way.? Finally they showed up on Thursday, October 17. I was immediately informed that the wrong lift had been delivered, and John stated even if he had to drive to Ft. Lauderdale, he would have the lift there Friday-Monday at the latest. They installed the 4 pilings and relocated an existing one. During the course of their work, a neighbor stopped by and began to talk to John. About an hour later, I saw John at the neighbor?s obviously bidding on the neighbors dock. At the end of the day I explained to John that I really needed the lift completed as soon as possible. On Friday, instead of seeing them work on my lift, I observed them working on the neighbors project, and did so all day. When I spoke to John he said the lift would be here Monday and they would start on it first thing in the morning. Imagine my surprise come Monday morning when I saw they were working to complete the neighbors dock. I had received a message from John that the lift ?was on the truck? and that they would be over as soon as finishing up at the neighbors. After completing the neighbors dock, I expected then to come over. No one showed up for the rest of the day. Tuesday morning, I got a call from Rick, he said that John had to go pick up the lift, that it never got on the truck, and that John would be by with his crew later that morning to complete the installation. Imagine again my surprise, as I awaited the installation of the boat lift, the crew, including John, show up-jump on the barge that now has been anchored at my place for 5 days, and I see it being brought over to, you guessed it, the neighbors to complete his installation! Finally, I got mad, walked down on the dock and asked why they would not complete the job they started on first, rather than the neighbors? I let John know I was not happy. Finally, they started installing the lift, it is a Neptune 13000 capacity and a quality product with a clean installation. They installed a service platform that actually kept the lift from going down all the way, I had them remove it so as to get it to go down in the water further. It was removed. But a big problem now is I cannot get the boat off of the lift at low tide. They did blow some under the lift but the boat can only be taken off the lift about 1/3 of the time. John did say he would come back and blow out some dirt and finish up but he hasn?t returned my numerous phone calls since I paid him. And the service platform, as well as the tops of the pilings I did not want, would be sitting where I left them. They have not been bacvk to pick them up. This is over 3 weeks! If you want prompt, professional service-go elsewhere. They know what they?re doing and have a quality product, but I would not hire them again.
