Just Counters was courteous and easy on the phone. Guys showed up to measure on time and make their cardboard templates. I had an issue with my cabinet company that forced Just Counters to make extra trips and they didn't mind. There were some scheduling difficulties with them being short staffed but they were upfront and communicated well. Only issue was 1 of the holes for sink faucet was drilled partly into our oversized undermounted sink which prevented us from using the faucet that we had already purchased. We had to use a single hole faucet instead of a 3 hole due to this issue and make a fast trip to home depot so our plumber didn't have to come back. I believe they offered to pay for the extra faucet as I recall. The counters have been in for a year now and still look beautiful. I would use them again
Here?s the sorted story ? We lived in CT and we were building a home in FL and our builder suggested JCOS so we went with them. As dates became clear and my work schedule got more complicated I purchased a last minute flight from CT to FL in order to select cabinets knowing I was going to be unavailable over the coming weeks. I took three days off work to fly down and back and spend the morning at JCOS selecting cabinets, finishes and hardware. 3 weeks later the owner, Mark Kemeny, calls - he had not written down or recorded any of my choices or decisions. He sent samples up to CT that were the wrong style and finish. I was unavailable, as I expected, for several weeks to drive over an hour away, to a CT Shiloh cabinet dealer.
Two weeks later - while at the CT Shiloh cabinet dealer I hear Shiloh is having problems with the style I thought I selected in FL and the CT Shiloh dealer was very forth right about the good and not so good points of Shiloh cabinets, offering excellent suggestions that I ultimately went with - completely changing what I thought was original selection. If I had gone with JCOS suggestions it would have been a disaster.
So now we are four weeks late on ordering cabinets, costing more money since we will have to rent a condo as the house won't be ready in time. The owner, Mark Kemeny, is a pleasant enough man but he does not follow through, does not place orders when he says he will, is not focused, will not return calls or emails if there is any hint of unpleasantness, disappointment or trouble. His installers do a really great job, are fine to deal with and Shiloh does make a beautiful cabinet. We when first started working with JCOS I asked about past issues I had seen on the internet , the owner had said a previous
JCOS employee had caused all the issues ? orders not placed, or incorrect cabinets, not returning calls etc. The
problem is still there in the form of owner ? it is not his employees or installers.
So all in all ? a wasted flight, three days of wasted vacation, 4 weeks of condo rental, and a whole bunch of time nagging JCOS and complaining to the builder. Did I change my mind on the cabinets? Yes!!! Did that cause the delay? NO! Am I grateful to the CT Shiloh cabinet dealer and in a twisted way JCOS screw up of not writing my selections down? OH YES I AM!!!!!
If I had a ?do over? I would have gone with truly custom
built cabinets from a local vendor for the money spent at JCOS.
"Thank you so much for the review. [member name removed] were an absolute joy to work with. The transformation of the kitchen and the hutch area is beautiful and perfect for that space. Thanks again!"
"Fantastic working with the (removed member name). Thanks so much for giving us the opportunity to earn your business!"
So the owner came to the home and reviewed the work in question, commiting to make it right.
The bath vanity was relaminated along with new doors being built and installed.
Extra panels were added to further conceal the refrigerator sides from showing too much.
One end of the island was extended on site, relaminated several times, a new door ordered, the granite top had to be recut twice in order to fit the new angles of the island cabinetry.
The installers who did this work were professional and did whatever was required to get the job repaired correctly and they did .
So now that it is all done and looks terrific, I know that I have a patched install.
On the positive side, I commend Just Counters for sticking with a long list of required fixes until all were taken care of.
The main point is that quality control in the build was severly lacking. It was an aggravating experience, not what I expected considering the cost.
My wife disagrees and feels this was a difficult job to begin with and WOULD use them again.
Last week they installed the cabinets and granite countertops. We could not be more pleased. The workmanship was excellent the installers very professional. Both companies lived up to their promises and delivered a kitchen that we absolutely love. I highly recommend Just Counters and Granite Enterprises..
"Thank you for allowing us the oppurtunity to work with you on your project and inviting us into the Brasher/Roger home. We appreciate your kind words. No one should ever feel pressured or rushed into such a major decision and purchase like a kitchen remodel. Thanks again!"
