After experiencing a very poor performance by another, highly rated window and glass company we selected GJC.
GJC prepared a quote quickly and answered all of our questions. The GJC representative was very personable and took the time necessary to discuss all of our concerns and past history.
After accepting the quote, the owner of GJC came to measure the door dimensions again and further described the door we would receive and the benefits of the brand they would use, PGT.
It took a little longer than we had hoped to get the door but it was custom made to fit the large space and to provide a door that was only 2 panels. The "other" company wanted us to buy a 4 panel door.
Installation went very smoothly. The installers were two young men who were friendly and again, took time to answer all of the questions we had.
While the new sliding doors looks a bit bulkier that the old doors, it was designed to meet the new building codes in SW Florida. It works as expected and looks very nice.
"Thank you very much. First for taking the time to post a review. We are all very busy people in this world and it means a lot that someone would take the time to help us promote our company. Thank you also for affirming that we are doing it right. That's our simple goal. Doing it right involves a lot of people and a lot of steps, from the first phone call, the sales appointment, remeasure, purchase, ordering, receiving, installing, inspecting and post inspection service, we work very hard as a team to coordinate all steps and make this major transformation in your home as simple as possible. And we love hearing we "did it right" thanks for being a great customer. Laury Couture"
"Thank you so very much for taking the time to review our company. We apologize for the misunderstanding regarding the install date and take your feedback very seriously. Our goal is to "do it right" the first, second and every time. Your candidness helps us see where we need to step up and we have done that. Thank you also for all the positive things you've said about your experience with us and we sure do hope you remember us when you're ready for more!!! Laury Couture"
"Hello Mr. [removed member info], I'd like to say thank you for the review. Even though it isn't a positive one, feedback is always welcome. I'd like to say that you are absolutely correct in that I dropped the ball on this order. Initially, when I read this review, I couldn't recall this project, but I looked in our database and found that we had sold you two windows exactly 1 year ago yesterday, the 10th of November. I looked through all of the paperwork and I found that on November 11, 2014 I sent in an order for two impact rated horizontal sliding windows. And then I saw that on December 8th, I confirmed that order. Because it was so long ago, I am piecing together what these documents mean. I surmise that I sent in the order immediately, and somehow between my sending it, and the vendor receiving, or responding there was a disconnect. When we send an order to our vendor, the next step is to check back for confirmation. I clearly missed that step. And because I missed it, you ended up waiting an additional 2 weeks for your product. What should have been completed in 4 weeks, actually took 6. Impact windows have a 4 week lead time, therefore, we wouldn't have scheduled for two weeks later, but it was a long time ago and details fade. All of that being said, we strive for excellence. As a small business in a very competitive market, a company must work very, very, hard to meet the highest standards. Unfortunately, perfection is very elusive. I made a mistake. Although I can't recall our conversations, knowing who we are as a company, I'm certain that we handled it professionally. One thing we are always certain of, is that we never mislead our customers. When we make a mistake, and that's really not often, we own it. We take responsibility and we learn. That's why feedback is so important. What makes me really feel bad is that you have lived with this for a year. Again, I am very sorry that you were inconvenienced by my error. We wish you the best. Laury Couture, owner GJC Window & Door Co"
