We recently hired Ibis Painting to paint the entire interior of our new home, and we couldn't be happier with the results! From the initial consultation to the final touches, the experience was outstanding. Despite our tight time schedule, Ibis painted the entire home in 3 days. The owner, Tim Spencer, and his team were punctual, respectful, and maintained a clean work environment throughout the project. The quality of the painting is exceptional. We highly recommend Ibis for any painting needs.

Ibis painting was excellent. Tim kept us informed during the entire process. The prep work was superior. We would definitely hire Ibis painting again. Very professional! This was not the lowest bid we received, but the quality of the workmanship was well worth the investment.

It went beautifully, to the point that I view owner Tim Spencer & his crew at Ibis Painting my painters for life! This was an extensive job, since our post-remodel house is around 3600 square feet (the original structure was built in 1947; then, during our complete 2006-2007 remodeling project, we added a second story over two-third's of the house). Tim's crew began the project by carefully pressure-washing the house; they used the original 3 colors, which we love: Knoxville Gray for the original first-floor brick; Silver Dollar for the Hardie shingle siding (mostly on the second story, but partly on the first-floor level, too); and white for the trim, garage doors, etc. One difference this time around is that they used satin-finish paint, rather than flat, & we absolutely love the look it creates. Before hiring Tim, I had secured 4 estimates for the job, including his, & they varied considerably, resulting in an almost-$5,000 difference between the highest estimate & the lowest. The 2 highest were simply beyond our budget, but Tim's & one other were reasonable & definitely within the budget limits I had set for this project. I decided to hire Tim for several reasons: his local-business-owner status; his many excellent reviews by satisfied customers; his obvious skills, knowledge, & expertise in the field; and finally, his sharp communication skills: he submitted one of the most detailed estimates I've ever received, so I knew exactly what to expect, & he communicated regularly with me before, during, & after the weeklong painting process. In short, because I couldn't be happier with the results, Tim will be the first person I call whenever it's time for us to have our house pressure-washed again--and certainly when we need to begin some interior painting or do some exterior touch-ups.

Where to begin this nightmare? It may be a little tangential because there is so much. If you want to go through **** in order to get a nice paint job then this is your guy (there is only one guy, Tim, although he presents it as a company). Most of what I explain below occurred AFTER I signed the contract. Tim was all business right from the start, which is fine, but there was a coldness about him, and more importantly an inattentiveness to the job that just didn't sit well with me. My instincts were on target. Let me preface my remarks by saying that I had already had two painters (one interior, one exterior) that did a horrible job. That's why I went to Angie's List. Because I felt fairly assured that the job would be done well and promptly. Fooled me. Now I have no trust in Angie's List. These guys get an A on there. An A?????? Next: If you want NO prep and someone who just sprays over everything in sight then these are your guys. Among many other things the sprayer guy just sprayed over a piece of tape on the wall. He sprayed half way over things like water faucets. Not like he meant to paint them, it was just sloppy work. He sprayed paint over my patio bricks. Also, before I agreed to the job, Tim told me that around the house, they trench the earth out a bit so they can get below the ground line. No trench, just painted grass. (Luckily I had had a lot of the heavy duty prep work already completed by someone else). The sprayer spoke NO English, and made so many mistakes, I had to communicate through the trim guy, who spoke a little English but not much. I never saw a smile, never any eye contact, no response to me pointing out mistakes. He seemed angry or resentful that I was pointing out mistakes or something. I SHOULD NOT BE THE PERSON WHO IS OUT THERE FINDING ALL THE MISTAKES! I was out there in the hot Florida sun scanning the house 5 different times, and yet again today. Today he had a guy come out and install new soffits and paint them. They looked nice until I did a closer inspection. There is spray paint all over my white satellite wires, and not in a good way like he wanted to cover them. They are just spattered with dark blue. That was IT for me. Tim pressure washed the place last week to get off the spilled paint, and left the front window of my house covered with debris. I have to get a ladder out to wash this window. When he pressure washed he texted me that it had taken off some of the paint and he would be by MONDAY to fix them. Fine. If only it had happened. He was here twice today (Monday) to instruct the soffit guy I guess, then left and did NONE of the touch up even though he said he would do it today. I am leaving for Hawaii in 2 days, and this nightmare isn't over yet. He came over one day, unannounced, to talk to me and get money. I was basically going to pay in thirds. I was just walking out the door. He apologized for coming unannounced but still I spent 20 minutes with him when I had to be somewhere, and I was late. I asked him to please schedule in the future, and his version of "scheduling" was a text that said "I can be stop by between 10 and 11 today." I texted him back noting "I think scheduling is a two way thing, yes?" No response. No apology. By this time I had lost all trust with Tim and didn't want to work with him or interact with him anymore. He wanted the final third of the total before the soffits were put in and the mistakes were fixed. He told me that the soffits were a different job and he wanted to finish up this portion of the $$, and settle up with the soffits when they were finished. I told him I would not pay him for an incomplete job, that I always pay my bills, and if he wanted, I would pay for the paint job and soffit job separately if that suited him better. I do not pay the final bill until the job is 100% complete, and it still isn't!. I told him I wanted to pay with a credit card over the phone -- like with his secretary or something. Rather than tell me there was no secretary or anyone else he simply said that he handles the payments. One of the WORST that made me really question his honesty was that in 4 different texts I asked him if he had a partner. At this point I would rather have dealt with someone else because I was totally shut down to him (I didn't tell him that of course). After 4 requests he NEVER answered or acknowledged my question. I call this dishonest. Saying nothing is just a lie of omission. Oh yes, at one point during this process he did not contact me for a week, and all painting stopped. Like he needed the guys elsewhere I guess. So, the house looks beautiful. But at what price? Angie, I give you an F. (BTW, the price below reflects the cost of paint as well.)

They were conscientious and willing to fix problems as they came across them. They took care of several things that were beyond the scope of the agreement. Crew leader Adrian had a “can-do” attitude I really appreciated. Quality was much better than wth the painters I used for the interior last year.

Everything went great! Tim Spencer made the effort to show up the same day that I called him to give me an estimate. He looked things over and seemed to really care, even though I only had a small job. He was able to send a painter over the next day. The work went quickly and looks fantastic. It was a small job, but it was important to me and I could tell that it was important to Ibis as well. I will definitely be calling them again in the future for my painting needs.

Very pleased with the timeliness and quality of the work done. We needed to have the job completed by a certain date prior to moving into our new home and the crew was able to get it done on time. They showed up on time every day and cleaned up when done. They were very neat and did not splatter paint on floors or cabinets. The rooms look great.

The painting crew of 3 painters, led by Javier, was absolutely first rate. They arrived on time and only took a half hour lunch break each day. They finished the job in 3 days when other companies said it would take 4 days. Javier and his crew work fast and extremely meticulously. The job they did totally exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend University Painters for interior painting! Ask for Javier and his crew and you won't be disappointed.

Ali was fantastic and honest. So many companies aren't, or do a half-baked job. Painters came out the next day and finished within 8 hours. She even offered to send the painters back of necessary. This really stood out as one of the best experiences I've had with a contracting company.

Not good. They required 50% deposit upon signing of the contract. Tim, the owner, held my money for over a month before anyone came to do the work. When they finally came, it was not the person who we contracted with. They did not want to do the work that was contracted and had to wait for their boss to approve. It turns out that they were subcontracted, which I would have never agreed to due to liability. We were supposed to have two coats of paint, after the holes were filled in. The holes were not filled in properly and the filler sunk in. They had to repaint several areas The lead person told us "that normally one person sprays the paint and one goes behind him with roller but we didn't do that". There are still several areas where the paint needs to be touched up because the original paint is showing through. Additionally they painted over peeling areas rather than clean it off first.

"Hi [Member Name Removed], We appreciate your feedback. In all our years of being in business we have never required a 50% deposit. We always require a 1/3 deposit. Normally we are booked out an average of 2 weeks throughout the year. The only time we get booked out any further then that are during the summer months because of the weather, or when customers have a hard time selecting colors. We understand that it is sometimes hard to select a color, for your home we put up color samples on your house so it would make the selection process easier. This also may delay the start date. As far as the actual paint job is concerned we take full responsibility for the final result of our crew members(not subcontractors). If you would like to contact me directly my cell phone number is 561-262-1514. We will gladly come out and address any areas of concern. Thank you, Tim Spencer"

I am delighted, Tim Spencer came for an estimate, prepared one in a professional and timely manner, and the proposal was thorough and competitive on price. The work was scheduled quickly, Tim was responsive to my time constraints, and when the day came, the painters were professional, courteous, responsible and efficient. The work was done quickly, and correctly and the results were precisely as committed to and expected. Tim followed up to check my satisfaction quickly and was pleasant and professional every step of the way. I highly recommend.
