Horrible. He was recommended by three people and I was new to area (this was my 7th home renovation- I had very good contractor up north). He gave all the right answers but once the house was gutted, it became clear he was over his head. He did not know how to deal with steel studs, never answered his phone (never available), never was on the worksite, I never saw subcontractors on the site (he was doing everything himself). As the days dragged on, he was less and less around....I believe he had cash flow problems and could not hire subs - this is a theory. The house was filthy during renovation and NEVER had I had a contractor who didn't keep a spotless job site. He made mistakes, couldn't finish simple tasks and towards the middle of the job, he began to bully and scream at me since I would question things he was doing that weren't correct. (I am a woman living alone - one person later on the job who heard him screaming at me said he would have hit him for screaming at a woman the way he did.) I had to have my father take over dealing with him since he was so abusive. He didn't know how to do a lot of work he claimed to understand. He demanded payment for poor work and threatened my father to walk off the job, so my father kept paying him. I would have preferred he walked. I have a home still unfinished and no more money left. He didn't even know how to put in a new replacement sliding door....plus he didn't use electricians and plumbers, did it all himself. I have had to have licensed electricians come in and get the work up to code. He lied on his permits and used names of licensed people that did not do the work. When I asked the people who recommended him how they could - they all said the same thing....oh, yes...."I forgot he did this or that." He put a dumpster on my concrete driveway and cracked it into many small pieces, put sheetrock on my grass and killed it. No common sense, no ability, I am disgusted with myself for using him.
