Normally I always use Angies List, but this time I used the plumber that my long time handyman called to do the work, Shawn and Sons. I did not realize that the $2300 charge was exorbitant. The price was quoted before doing the 6 hours of work (2 men). The work seemed fine and my handyman repaired the holes in the side of the house.
The second visit on 10/31 was for an unrelated leak. They removed the toilet and replaced the ring. I didn't find out until the third visit that the plumbers used the same rotting toilet bolts when re-bolting the toilet. The plumber lied to Shawn, his boss, and said that I told them to use the old bolts. Really???
We were out of town when my handyman checked the house on November 12th and found water leaking just as it was before the toilet was repaired. I felt I had no choice but to tell the same plumber to correctly find the leak. After making 3 holes in the bed rock of my house, they found that the water was coming through a cracked outside electrical outlet. The outside sprinkler water was going right through the outlet into my house. This was probably going on for several months or more. Upon my return a week later I was presented a with bill for $1980. The plumbers probably worked a total of 8 hours for that.
I tried to negotiate the price for the last to visit down to $1000, accepting the price of the July bill of $2300. The hourly rate was astronomical. Shawn would not agree .His excuse was, "Our truck says, 'We do not charge by the hour'."
I gave him one week and told him I would then "tell all" on Angies List. It's been over two weeks and I haven't heard from him.
PS My handyman no longer recommends this company.
