He refurbished by apt. down to the studs, which is what I asked him to do. The budget I gave him was to include everything, materials and appliances, he exceeded my budget (huge). They had no problem with the demolition, but took quite a bit of time to do the build out. I had to keep on top of him the whole time. As I was not able to remove all of my belongings for the renovation, when I moved back in, I noticed some of my stuff was missing. For much of the work, he used sub-contractors, some of them were good; but the electrician he used didn't use the correct rated outlets in the kitchens or bathrooms. He left several of the outlets open and didn't finish them. I had to hire people to finish the jobs that he did poorly, didn't finish, or didn't do. The plumbing was another fiasco, when he left the only drain that worked properly was in my bathtub. As they even worked on all of my plumbing, they were supposed to have the water shut off, they figured how to get water from the pipes, which leaked into my several of my neighbors apartments in the floors below me, so they wound up repairing the ceiling in the two floors below. When the granite arrived for my kitchen, he had also gotten the wrong granite. So the correction wound up taking an additional 2 weeks. I also had my bathtub refurbished while they were there. They damaged that work, while cleaning their equipment.
The tile job on the floors, the back splash in the kitchen, and in my shower were done very well, but had difficulty getting them finished as Mike didn't pay his sub-contractors, and they were all calling me looking for money, when I had paid him. I tried numerous times to call him back, and he never returned any of my calls. I'm VERY disappointed. As far as I know, he also still owes several of his sub-contractors. When I tried to reach him, he was "out of town". On this project, it seemed like anything that could go wrong, did.
They also left a bunch of stuff out on my balcony, didn't clean up after themselves.

They were very professional. It was an incredibly messy job since they had to spray the finish. They did a great job matching the rest of the ceiling and cleaned everything up when they were done. The company that caused the problem paid for it so I can not comment on cost.
