The contact person was nasty. While they were installing it, I was watching them, and I could see that they were not doing the right thing, so I would ask them a question or I would say something. When they got to a certain portion, I saw that they were tearing the under layer sheet rolls into odd shapes with ragged edges, and laying them down without fixing them with tape. The under layer comes in rolls, and they should be unrolled, laid out, and the edges should be fixed with tape. I saw this and I asked them what they were doing. I told them that they needed to get a full piece of under layer, and what they were doing was unacceptable. I called the owner and told him what they were doing and that it was unacceptable. He called me back and told me that if I didn’t get out of there and let them do their job, they were going to walk off the job. I had people coming for thanksgiving, and I had a cement floor. I asked them if they were going to fix it and he said that they would fix it, but I was not allowed to look, or they were going to walk off the job. So I had them fix it, but then I withheld money from them, and I told him to come and lift up the boards from where I had seen them putting in those ragged pieces. He said that he would do that, but if there weren’t ragged pieces there when he opened it up, I would have to pay him for the labor of pulling the floor up and putting it back down. I told him that if he had let me stand there and watch them and make sure, we wouldn’t be in this position right now, and that he had bullied me in my own house and made me stay away from them. They were supposed to lay the flooring in a professional manner, the way it was supposed to be laid, and they did not, as far as I saw. But then I wasn’t allowed to see if they even fixed what I had cautioned them about. I had a problem with this company, I had them install laminate flooring in the back bedroom, and their installer was also very nasty. I would tell friends and family to stay away from this company, I just wanted to go there and put a placard up, and tell people to stay away, because they are horrible. I have documentation of all this as well, because I think I reported them. They were bullying, nasty, and the installer had the nerve to come here and say that it was a beautiful floor. The quality of the wood was fine, but the quality of the installation was not. There was another thing, I came to find out that the installer did not have a license, and I was told that he was working under the license of the owner of the store. But at the time of laying this, he didn’t have a license.
