Steve T.
Oct 2017
Justin (owner's son) is an inspector under his father (Dana). Justin inspected my home prior to purchasing, and I asked him "How is the AC running?" He responded with "It is in perfect running condition." Shortly after the inspection, we bought the house and moved in. The AC was not working in "perfect condition" and only dropped 4 degrees with 4-5 hours of running. I noticed it was a 2002 Carrier air handler with a 2010 Rheem compressor. However, the inspection report states that it is a "2010 AC system". Later I called the AC guy to service it. AC guys said the inspector should have caught mixing AC units because mixing-matching AC is a major problem when complications arise. Later found the coils were only compatible with R-22 freon (very few people have this and charge a much higher price for it since it will be discontinued soon). The compressor is designed to run with R-410a (current AC standard) but was bleed dry and replaced with R-22. Completely new AC system has at least a 10-year warranty. In my case, even if I buy a new Rheem air handler, I only get 5-year warranty just because it ran R-22. I contacted Dana for resolution, but he deflected responsibility of the poor inspection. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and Dana sent a text message threatening to sue for defamation of character (laughable useless threat). This company does a half-baked job and doesn't stand behind the service they provide. UPDATE: The owner (Dana) is still threatening me with "see you in court" lines in an attempt change my factual comments on their poor work ethics. Plenty of better qualified insoectors, but I would stay very far away from them unless you like subpar work.
