I checked Honda's web site and was directed to Waller's. While Plant City is a good half hour drive for me, I knew it well due to having worked in the area in the past. I called Waller's on a Wednesday and spoke with "Bobby" about my possible purchase. Bobby was very helpful over the phone and assured me that they had the model I wanted in stock and that he would hold it for me until I could find time to come out and purchase it.
On Saturday morning I went to Waller's, and upon arrival, was greeted by Bobby, who recalled my name and immediately pointed out the lawn mower I wanted. He made sure that any question I had were answered and never once pressured me to close the sale. I was also pleased to discover that Waller's price was the same as that at the "big box" stores, despite my willingness to pay more for the ability to work with a local business.
While the owner of Waller's took my lawn mower in back and prepped it, Bobby went through the process of writing up the order, accepting my payment and registering the ownership of the lawn mower with Honda. He then presented me with the necessary owner's manuals, briefly reviewed things with me in the event I had any questions, and encouraged me to call them should I have any at a later date.
They then took my new mower out and very carefully loaded it into my car, and again thanked me for doing business with them.
While Waller's is not terribly convenient for me location-wise, the ability to get and receive one on one service and a level of support far outweighs any inconvenience. I strongly believe in supporting local businesses, especially those who make a point of providing customer service far beyond that of national chains.
