Bruce Jones Air Conditioning & Refrigeration

We called Bruce Jones Air Conditioning and spoke directly to the owner to schedule an appointment. We reflected our concerns and he mentioned that he had a service technician in our general area. He said he would check on that status and call us back shortly. Within 10 minutes he called us and said his service technician, Lance, would be at our home in about 30 to 45 minutes. Lance arrived well within that window and immediately went about providing a thorough examination of our HVAC system. His evaluation determined that our AC system was running both the air and heating at the same time. He further determined that the air return circuit board was corrupted and causing this problem. It turned out that he did not have a replacement board on his truck for our Goodman unit. So Lance made the time in his busy schedule to make a special run to the local distributor to obtain the board. He quickly installed it and we could immediately tell the difference in our AC performance. In short, we were very much impressed with Lance's level of professionalism and his highly congenial personality. It was a fabulous customer experience to be able to pick up the phone, speak to the business owner, get someone out to our home the same day in the middle of summer, and have the service performed exceedingly well.

Excellent! The part was still covered by the OEM warranty. Robi installed the new evaporator coil, evacuated and recharged the system as soon as he was able to get the part from the manufacturer.

We obtained multiple quotes for replacing our aging air handling systems and this company was very competitive.  We ended up going with 17 SEER units - high end efficiency. The owner impressed us with his knowledge and we had friends that had used his services in the past and had nothing but good things to say about the company so we contracted to have him do the work.  His employees arrived on time and immediately went to work.  They were very courteous, explained what they were doing and why and worked steadily.  We offered to get them lunch but they declined, stating they wanted to get the system up and running as quickly as possible as it was in the 90s that day and the house was slowly heating up. When they finished they completely cleaned up the areas and took away all the trash that the installation generated, including the old units. 

The new systems ( we have two in our house) are amazingly quiet, both the inside units and the units outside.  The house has been much more easily maintained at our selected temperature.  We are hopeful that our first electric bill after the installation will show significant improvement.  The county inspector who reviewed their work was very impressed and told us that everything that had been done was exactly they way it should have been done.

We always use Robie to do our yearly maintenance on our AC.  My mom recently bought a house here in Apollo Beach so we called him to service hers.  We knew the unit had been neglected, but Robie confirmed it and showed us that the unit had to be taken out and taken apart to be thoroughly cleaned inside and out.  He was there for quite a few hours.  Apparently the former owners never changed the filter or had it serviced.  The house was built in 2009, but the unit looked like it was 20 years old. I popped over a few times to check out his progress and couldn't believe what he had to do to clean it.  To make a long story short the unit is running great and my mom will breath clean ( and cool ) air.  Thanks Robie!

The first system , installed in the summer of 2014, was a Zone Control  system ( theses are the systems you can control using a smartphone app ) in a 3,200 sf home. Bruce Jones AC was one of three contractors we solicited bids from . His proposal met our scope  for materials, cost and warranty. The installation was quick , the crew polite and professional  and the system is amazing, saving of several hundred dollars on our electric costs .
 The second system, installed on 3/20/2015 was for a home where disabled family members reside. The existing system broke down on Wednesday evening 3/18/2015, Mr.Jones came out on Thursday  3/19/2015 and explained the system was beyond repair.Knowing that we had elderly and disabled family members living there, Mr.Jones assured us he would have a unit available within two days and installed.Guess what happened? He beat his own schedule !! The unit was installed and operational by Friday evening 3/20/2015.
 I have worked as a Senior Program/Project Manager in the Tampa Bay area for over 15 years.I have worked with General Contractors and Construction Management Companies ( Batson Cook, Kimmins Corp.Hubbard , Islander etc. ) both small and large over the years and this company is on par with all of them.
Professional, dependable and cost effective.

The technician Lance was very professional and took care of the routine maintenance on three air conditioning units.  He took the time to discuss how I can clear the drains in a pinch.  Bruce called the day before to confirm time, worked with my schedule, and the tech showed up on time.   Great service!

They're somebody I would use because I trust them. They've always been more than fair with us. They're always there when they say they'll be there. They've always been fair with us on price. I just think they're honest people. I have never really considered anybody else.

Service was great.  On time (early actually), explained scenarios for the future in great detail.  Clearly knew his stuff and respected my need to understand fully what I should do now and anticipate later.

I had Bruce's info from a few years ago.  A co-worker had recommended him to me back then for any AC work.  I recall calling him in 2005 with a question about my old unit and installing a new digital thermostat and he helped me with my problem over the phone at no charge.
Our current home has a very old unit installed back in 1982.  It still works well, but I could see that the coils and radiator-like fins were clogged up very bad.  It is my estimation they had never been cleaned.  I called Bruce on Thursday afternoon and explained what I needed done.  He said they'd be in my area (South Tampa) the next morning around 10am.  
One of Bruce's guys (Lance) arrived on time and took a look.  He said he could clean it up and got to work.  He had all the right chemicals to disinfect and kill mold.  He used brushes, a small sprayer and a shop vac. He flushed out the small condensation catch before egress. Lots of gunk and rusted crust chunks came out.  He used a large drop cloth to cover the area and cleaned up very well afterwards.
Now the coil looks about as good as a 30 year old unit could look.  I was very pleased with the work. Lance was great as my wife and I chatted with him during the visit.  He is going to return in a week or two to install a drip pan and water-level float with kill switch.  This old unit never even had a pan, just a direct tube from the coil to outside.
When my old unit finally goes out, I'll be calling Bruce to install me a new one.

I have been using the company for nearly 15 years, and it has always been prompt and professional.  Its services are priced very competitively, and I trust that it won't take advantage of me.

I called Bruce after another A/C company told me the reason my system wasn't cooling and kept freezing up was because I had a major leak and needed to be replaced.  After I told Bruce over the phone the model, he said he could get the part and I need not replace the whole system.  He said the part would be about $1200.  He came to install the part once it came in and after checking my system, he said to me, you really have only a very small leak and although I can't repair it, if it was me, I wouldn't put in this part for $1200, you aren't going to feel that big a difference, you really only need some coolant about once a year.  He put in the coolant and was on his way, and saved me $1200 by not selling me a part I didn't really need.  Haven't had any more problems with the system since.  He's one of the most ethical repairmen I know and as a Realtor, I send all my clients who have A/C problems to him now.  Being good and honest pays in the end! 

I have been using them for the last 15 years, and my experience with them has been fantastic. I continue to use them because of their competitive pricing and promptness. They charged me $850 to replace the accumulator. One time, I called them up on a Sunday and they were out Sunday night to charge the system, and didn?t charge premium for coming out on a Sunday night. I would rate them highly and would continue to use them in the future.
