Marinas
1. Installed 3 ball valves, not bonded (ng)
2. Bilge pumps repaired, don't work.
.
3. Bottom painted the boat prior to addressing other issues. Boat must go back in the water 72 hrs. after painting. First prep and paint wasted. Had to be redone. Original cost was $2583.00.
4. Outside contractor fabricated bow sprit for $2700.00 (excellent job). Gasparilla Marine Services tech primed and painted the 10' pole and ran the bill to within $500.00 of the cost of making the sprit. Apparently wanted to make up for wasted bottom paint job.
5. Removed sampson post portions that contained dry rot. Outside contractor fabricated two new posts (2' x 6' ea.) for $525.00. Oak material for sampson posts was $360.00. To fit posts was $500.00. Install sampson posts, and set bow sprit on deck $1360.00. Some demo work on dry rot will have to be addressed at another ship yard.
6. Tech painting sampson posts is the remainder of the total of $6277.00.
7. The boat should not have been accepted there due to her size and complexity. A 30 amp electrical cord had to be run across the yard to keep 3 gel batteries charged. This cord was run over continually by large fork lifts carrying outboards with heavy engines to and from storage. Despite the fact that the yard master was continually warned that this would be a problem, he left the situation as it was. The boat had to be started by shore power in order to get it out of there. The batteries were flattened and several electronic items aboard had to be replaced as they received power surges and/or harmonic distortions as a result of the fork lifts compressing the electric cord.
