Once I had the leak confirmed, i expected the next suggestion to be, because of the age of the system, refrigerant used in the old system and the leak that I should replace the system. I have many systems in place and know this is what most recommend. Fortunately Chris told me he had a fix. He told me what he could do and the cost. I agreed and he was able to repair the system quickly.
Overall I'd say this is a professional outfit. They are a husband and wife team and most refreshingly DO NOT SELL AC SYSTEMS. They only fix them!
So my recommendation is before you let somebody tell you that you need to buy a new system. Give a company a try that only fixes them. As most of these big companies want to sell new systems, Not fix old ones.
I had been looking for a company like this and am truly happy to find Chris & Margie. I will absolutely use them again.

The a/c unit at our house started blowing only hot air, and kept working continuously despite all attempts to turn it off.We contacted a company to come and check it, and their indication was that we needed a new unit, and gave us an estimatefor the new equipment ($5,000).  Our unit is only 8 yrs old, so this was surprising.  We, then, called another company for a second opinion.  They were very thorough, inspected the unit (inside and outside), but couldn't figure out what was wrong with it.We had to call them two more times after their first visit, because the unit continued to malfunction. With the unit still having the same problem, they also told us we should just buy a new unit.  Thankfully, I was referred to Southland Heating & A/C.  They are a husband/wife team, very pleasant and, above all, knowledgeable. As soon as they walked in my house and I explained the order of events before the unit malfunctioned, they told me what could bewrong with it.  They did a detailed inspection of the unit (inside and out) and confirmed their assessment.  After changing the part they determined was defective, my unit was working as new, and has been since then (maybe even better than before).  Because of the inefficiency of the first two companies, my unit remained defective for a couple of weeks, causing a
huge increase in my electric bill.   I consider the staff at Southland Heating & A/C exceptionally experienced and honest!
