second time i've gone here and second time i've come away impressed with their integrity. they tell me what's going on. they don't seem to make anything up, gloss anything over, or trump any unneeded business. not only do these guys seem to be honest, their prices are on the lower end.
first time i had a leaking oil pan. first two places i went to told me i needed my oil pan replaced and it would cost about 500 all in. luckily both of those places couldn't take me for a few days. a clerk at autozone told me to check in with andy at total car care. said he's the most trustworthy guy around. i went to him and he said he could probably weld the oil pan and core a new drain plug and that would probably work and if not, then he'd give me a quote for a new oil pan. he ended up charging me $36 for the work (including service) and the oil pan has been fine for 6 months since.
this time my brakes were rattling and squeeling with a clanking and grinding metal noise. took it to him right away. he told me this sometimes happens on old trucks and i needed to replace the brake system. charged me $400. i looked online and the price range for that job on my model is listed at $400 - $800. i asked him if i needed other work and he said there are a few mileage maintenance jobs that could be done but nothing critical and that was it. no hard sell.
hard to find a mechanic you can trust. i think i found one.

I spent $28 for my service. The mechanic does very good work, he doesn't waste time fixing things that don't need fixing. He's definitely honest and reasonable. The best mechanic I've used.
