When I took it back and told the shop manager what the problem was he said that it was something else and I told him it wasn't. He was adamant about it not being the cap which made me decide not to come back. When the tech put the truck on the lift I was watching him remove the rim cover for the bearing cap and when he did the cap fell out. This is what some garages do to fool people into thinking a new problem has started and lets them tell you that it is bad bearings and need to be replaced. I will never return to this company and I tell everyone about what they did.
the cap was tapped back on with a hammer and I left and no more noise from the front end, just me smiling that I did not get ripped off.
In this instance I brought my F-150 truck in for routine maintenance and while there asked if they could look at my 4-wheel drive as the electronic indicator lights were not coming on and it didn't seem to be going into four wheel drive. I could have taken it to a dealership but I'd rather have teeth pulled. Kevin Mahr who is the store manager gave me an estimate for diagnostics and I gave him the go-ahead to see if they could find the problem. Fifteen minutes later he was back and advised me that it was the transfer case and rather than have me sit around for 2-3 hours, if I wanted him to fix it he'd run to the dealership himself and pick it up so that they could have me back on the road in about an hour. And true to his promise I was. These people are fantastic. If someone isn't satisfied with the work and customer service at this store, they're not going to be satisfied with the work and customer service anywhere. No where are you going to find an automotive repair shop with the honesty and integrity of this McGee facility.
